Liked Booked only an hour before turning up. I think other people had too as the owner told us she re-opened a closed field for the weekend. Beautiful views and the field was over a pretty stream bridge. There is a small railway running by the field with just 2 carriages and not too noisy. The field had a compost toilet in. The main toilets and showers were at the entrance which were spotlessly clean, the showers were really good and hot, there were also a fridge/freezer, wash up facilities and fresh eggs on sale. There is a small cafe van which looked good but we didn’t use. The owner came around in the night and chatted and offered more wood for fire pits. There is a river walk into town but we had been walking all day so didn’t do it. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
Disliked There was quite a lot of sheep poo in the field we stayed in and it got on our shoes and rug but I’m thinking this is because they had closed the field and just re-opened for the weekend.

Liked Lovely site, toilets and showers clean, large undercover pot wash area with a large freezer for ice blocks. Check in was easy and couple were very friendly and helpful. Stayed on pitch 32 in the ‘pretty field’. Very good location for a trip to Alton towers. Nice quiet nights too.
Disliked Luckily the weather was very kind, it was a little breezy in the field and we struggled to light the bbq even with a wind break on the first night, the wind died down the second night so managed it then. The views made up for it though.

Liked We really liked the relaxed feeling of the site. Loved watching the activity from the airfield next door. The way the pitch’s are set out, the fire pits and the wheelbarrows to get kit to the pitches. The toilets and shower block were cleaned and restocked daily. There is a good stock of wood and an honesty box to pay for it. I was initially worried about keeping the teenagers phones charged but took two power banks and were able to charge them easily. There are four plug sockets but we took a double charging lead so could charge from one plug. We made good use of the freezer too. We walked to two near by villages and had lovely meals in the pubs. There are plenty of supermarkets in Brackley for supplies. We picked up a map from the post office/shop on Charlton and it has the local walks on it so we could explore. We contacted Rachael with any questions and she replied promptly and was very helpful.
