Location and how peaceful it was

The location was perfect for exploring Bodmin moor and surrounding area. This campsite COULD BE great with some serious maintenance, TLC and cleaning.

Unfortunately the site advertises itself as a family
Holiday park, and charges similar to previous amazing sites we stayed on.
Upon arrival we were shocked at the state of disrepair. To enter we had to keep our fingers crossed navigating a broken cattle grid and treacherous un maintained road.
The pitches were absolutely covered in sheep dung and tree branches, nothing a good regular rake wouldn’t sort. There was no hot water in the ladies. The mens, and dishwashing area were out of use. Campsite lights were broken so needed to navigate in the dark. Lots of rubbish, broken trampolines ladders etc dumped around the pitches.
To be fair I imagine the owners are starting to do up the site, by adding some Glamping pods and a new fence around the rubbish area. So it may well become the family holiday park we imagined from the advertising. Would have felt happier if the prices reflected the work in progress.

Setting was lovely and peaceful

The facilities (Toilet and Shower Block) were very poor, needs updating and and to be cleaned.

Peaceful site amongst the trees. Walking distance to the lake. Friendly, helpful staff. Sheep around the site.

Quiet campsite with stunning views of the lake and lovely tree surrounded pitches.

Pitches were very muddy but we’ve had 3 back to back storms.

Front of house Kazi was very friendly and helpful.

Perfect for exploring Bodmin Moor and surrounding areas.

Food at the restaurant was simple but large portions and tasty.

Facilities are basic but functional - they do need updating but were clean when we stayed.

Games room is basic but fun to pass an hour or so - they do need to update this room too- a working TV would be a good addition.

Overall we had a great stay - if you like a simple, back to nature site this is for you. It is tired, does need some money spent on it, but recent times have been very difficult for many businesses.

Ability to arrive late was very handy.

Showers were very poor, not clean and no sign of any cleaning rota. Grass pitches to side of hard standing were very wet.

Nice spot in the woods. Toilets and showers old but clean.
