Local attractions

The Nisqually River runs right up to the site and has large salmon between July and December, the only time the river is open to any type of fishing. Many guests also enjoy kayaking on the river, but please buy a life jacket from the site office to stay safe. Wolf Haven and Northwest Trek are both 25 miles away for wildlife, or if you enjoy the ocean, you can check out the parks in Olympia or Steilacoom (around 15 miles each). Wild Waves Enchanted Village Theme Park is 28 miles north and has a waterpark with a wave pool, lazy river, kids' area and many slides, as well as rides and games on the park's other side. Mount Rainier is about 60 miles east, for hiking, climbing, snow activities and nature spotting.
