  • Dog-friendly five-acre lot 10 miles from High Falls State Park
  • Under 25 minutes' drive to Indian Springs State Park and Dauset Trails
  • Fire ring in an oak grove; a mile from the Interstate 75
Gear up for kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking and the likes… when you pitch up your tent in your preferred spot in Goat Camp’s five-acre lot, you’ll quickly find there are lots of activities of the outdoorsy sort within striking distance. That’s because this dog-friendly site in Jackson, Georgia is just 10 miles from High Falls State Park (15 minutes’ drive) and 15 miles from Indian Springs State Park (25 minutes). These two places are packed full of opportunities for such activities, but back on site, Goat Camp’s niche is privacy and their cute little Nigerian Dwarf goats that graze nearby. One place you’ll certainly want to visit around this property is the firepit in an oak grove, a prime place to see off the day properly. You might catch sight of the resident Billy goat named Milky while you’re in the woodlands too. Once you’re on the property, it’s easy to forget that the pitches are just a mile from Interstate 75. The site is just off exit 205, a little over 40 miles south of Atlanta and nearly 45 miles north of Macon. The service station five minutes’ drive away sells some snacks and has takeaways in case you're feeling a little hungry.

Local attractions

High Falls State Park may be a prime choice for launching your own watercraft from the ramps or renting out a boat, kayak or canoe, but it’s also alongside the High Falls Water Park (10 minutes’ drive) for thrills on waterslides. Those of you keen to get hiking might want to take off to the Dauset Trails Nature Center (20 minutes). It’s only up the road from the Indian Springs State Park, so after you’ve had a paddle in Sandy Creek or taken a boat out on the water, there are hiking and biking trails to add into the mix – see what wildlife you can spot while you’re passing through and afterwards, set up a spread in the picnic areas with charcoal grills. If animal spotting is your kind of gig, Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary (15 minutes) might also make it onto your to-do list. There’s a one-mile trail around the place or guided tours that will take you closer to the animals. A fan of shopping or stockcar racing instead? Tanger Outlets Locust Grove (10 minutes) has the former, while Atlanta Motor Speedway (half an hour) has events and activities that aren’t just for the race weekends – sign up for a track tour if you wish.
