Just simply spectacular... As you may have figured out from the pictures, Camping Simplonblick is a scenic and spacious place, made up of green grounds, colourful flowers and facilities that will keep you occupied from morning to night. Set just off the main road in Raron in Upper Valais, it's easily accessible by car, motorcycle or public transport and a central base for making day trips to popular Valais attractions. This is a self-check-in site with no staffed reception, so upon your arrival, you get to pick your own pitch. You may fancy cooling off in the pool (open during high season only) or heading over to the table tennis tables, pétanque court, play area or trampoline. After you're done with your activities, you may want to unwind at the on-site restaurant, which has a roomy terrace. The site has many modern and well-kept amenities and services: it's so clued up that it even has its own gas station. Surroundings await for active and scenic times too: it's minutes away from hiking trails around the Rhône river and five minutes' walk away from the cable car to the ski stations of Eischoll and Unterbäch, and within driving distance of toboggan rides, glaciers, the Matterhorn and the world's highest revolving restaurant. To add to that, there are several thermal baths/spas within half an hour's drive of the site.

  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • The outdoor swimming pool is open between 16/06 and 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
  • Due to canton regulations, customers are required to use local bin bags. These must be purchased on site.

Lovely valley spot with ace mountain views & cable car access. Toilets/showers are super clean & modern. Sites are a good size, mostly flat. Self-check-in's a bit impersonal for some, but most love the site, the facilities & location. Wi-Fi can be spotty & road noise is a thing, though a new tunnel's on the way.

Toilets/showers are immaculate

Disliked Not having an allocated pitch was a bit free for all, couldn’t really get a proper pitch and squeezed on the back of someone else’s.

Liked Pomieszczenia sanitarne jak nowe, czyste.
Przy chwilowym problemie z prądem miła obsługa szybko go rozwiązała. Cena jak na Szwajcarię bardzo przystępna.

Disliked Brak możliwości rezerwacji kwater a i nie są wyznaczone. Gdzie się zmieścisz tam stoisz. Zajęło mi 15- 20 min zanim znalazłem miejsce. Jeśli ktoś przyjedzie bardzo późno to może mieć kłopot.

Liked Lovely campsite in valley with lovely villages to see and can go up cable cars
Toilets and washing facilities are great.

Disliked Massive problem with electric with the amount of people on site even though site guys were fantastic at sorting were they could. No reception but are easy to phone them and send someone straight away but need sighns to tell them to pitch and not on other people pitches as they were doing late arrivals

Liked Très propre, surtout les sanitaires

Disliked Pas d'accueil, pas de contact humain, froid et impersonnel. Pas d'information. Resto fermé et pas grand chose autour du camping. Manque de partie ombragée pour les camping car.

Notre camping est présenté comme un camping sans réception, avec enregistrement et départ automatisés. Il va de soi qu’il n’y a donc pas de personnel sur place.
Le camping a été entièrement rénové il y a 4 ans, c’est pourquoi les arbres ne sont pas encore très grands.
Nous sommes ravis que vous ayez été satisfait du reste des infrastructures.

Raron's locale is under an hour from the mountain resorts of the Upper Valais, from Aletschgebiet to Zermatt under the Matterhorn peak. You can travel over the border to Italy or to other Swiss cantons via mountain passes and spectacular views: particularly recommended by the site team are the Simplon Pass, connecting Brig in Valais with Domodossola in Italy's Piedmont, and the Furka Pass, linking Andermatt in Uri with Gletsch in Valais. Another tiptop option is a trip to the Aletsch Glacier, the biggest glacier in the Alps and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Jungfrau-Aletsch. To visit a glacier from the inside, have a day at the Ice Pavillion of Saas-Fee, next to the world's highest revolving restaurant. A 70-metre long tunnel leads into the ice of the glacier, which can be reached via a subterranean cable car.
