Folks dreaming of a stay in a classic cute Alpine village, it’s quite possible this is the one you’re searching for. Local dialect, costumes and customs are very much of the traditional variety in Evolène, and the gorgeous dark wood chalets are like straight out of a picture book (or your daydreams, perhaps). Select a stay with Michel and family at Camping d’Evolène and you’ll be right in the middle of the action – the central Valais village location being mightily handy for restaurants and shops as well as for joining in with carnival or any other jollity that might be taking place. It’s also a rather fab spot for getting out into nature – hiking, mountain biking, climbing and paragliding are among the ways to get out and see the scenic surrounds of the area’s mountains and glaciers, and you can hire kit in the village to save lugging your own along. At the other end of the spectrum there’s also heaps of space around the site itself where you can put your feet up while gazing at the epic views (nibbles of local cheese and/or choccie optional but highly recommended). Those 360º mountain views mean you’ll not even need to tear yourself from the gawping if you fancy a swim in the outdoor pool, or are dragged off to supervise the nippers at the play area.

Stunning mountain views & village access. Friendly staff, clean facilities, and great for hikers/peace seekers. Pitches can be close with limited shade. Mostly great, though one older review mentioned grumpy reception. Pool & activities are a bonus.

Liked Excellent site, clean and well kept. Quite at night and great views of the mountains. Very good staff, very good spoken English too.
Well within walking distance of all you need. Lovely restaurants, local supermarket, gift shop, bike hire etc.
As described in the read up.
We wish we had booked for longer.

Liked Lovely family friendly site in a beautiful tradition Swiss location. We liked it that much we stopped for a third night which the owners were very accommodating with. Great boulangerie a short walk away and picturesque surrounding villages. Plenty of space for the children to play. Coop also a very short walk away which is very handy. Facilities were clean and well kept. Would absolutely recommend this site to anyone and everyone!

Disliked Would have benefited from soap in the bathrooms which was ok because we had our own but do think if you’re paying to stay somewhere hand wash should be provided

Disliked Only one urinal working in the men’s toilets.

Liked Ein sehr schöner Zeltplatz mit sehr nettem Service. In der Gegend wird französisch gesprochen aber man kommt auch gut mit Englisch zurecht.
Alles war sauber und in gutem Zustand. Es war familienfreundlich. Wir waren mit 18 monatiger Tochter da und sie hat sich auch sehr wohl gefühlt.
Der nahe Kirchturm startet frühs um 7 Uhr mit Läuten, aber da waren wir dank Kind eh bereits wach :-D
Wir sind sehr zufrieden und können den Platz empfehlen.

Liked Location at the edge of town of evolène which had everything we needed. Coop supermarket and several bakeries walking distance.
We enjoyed a walk to Lanna (40 min gentle uphill walk) to catch the cable cars into the mountain. Lovely restaurant at the top where we enjoyed some very nice reasonable priced coffees and cake
The campsite will give you a qr code which gives you access to half price cable car entrance
The campsite was lovely and friendly but doesn’t have much shade but we managed with awning in 36 degree heat
Plenty of hot showers and toilets and a feeezer to keep some drinks and ice blocks frozen. Great for freezing a few water bottles for a hike the next morning
The pool was small but perfect for cooling down and never seemed crowded

Even hardcore outdoorsy types will be hard-pressed to run out of things to do in the mountains around the site – a hefty 100 kilometres of mountain bike trails and 250 kilometres of hiking trails for starters, plus tennis courts, paintballing, paragliding and via ferrata climbing routes. Save the hassle of bringing your mountain bike by hiring one on site. Take the tiddlers off for a taste of various activities (including treetop trails, mountain bikes and a climbing wall) at the Forêt Aventures centre in Vercorin, 45 minutes’ drive away, tackle the Adventure Maze in Evionnaz or pop over to the Marécottes zoo (both an hour away). Overdone the activity a tad? Time, perhaps, to soak in the thermal baths at Saillon or Leukerbad, both of which you can get to in an hour or so.
