Tent and campervan pitch
Campsite with a view of the bäderhorn
Tent pitch sheltered by trees
Pitches overlooking the gastlosen range

  • Alpine campsite with spectacular views of the Gastlosen massif
  • Jaun two hours by bike and Bäderhorn 20 minutes’ drive
  • Playground, games and a TV room on site, plus a shop and snack bar
Ever wanted to pitch up amid lush pine forest overlooking the Bernese Alps? Here’s your chance, for at Camping Jaunpass, 15 minutes’ drive from Boltigen in the Obersimmental-Saanen, all the pitches have views of the rocky peaks of the Gastlosen massif. And this site is not just spectacular, it’s also very family friendly. Thoughtful facilities to make your holiday go with a swing include modern shower facilities with bags of hot water, washing machines and a drying room. There’s a baby-changing room and a kids’ playground, plus all sorts of activities like ping pong, table football, darts and boccia (a bit like pétanque). You can also get together and watch TV in the communal space when you need some quiet downtime. So you have plenty to keep kids occupied then. But what about food? That’s all sorted too, thanks to a shop at reception, which is well-stocked with all the staples like fresh bread, regional cheeses and cold meats, pasta, rice and chilled white wine. Not keen on cooking? Kids’ favourites like pizza and burgers are served in the snack bar, along with local dishes like fondue and schnitzel.

What customers say

Amazing mountain spot with great views. Staff are legend, facilities spotless. Handy shop on site. Perfect for walks and bike rides. Some find pitches a bit tight, like a motorhome car park, and Wi-Fi's only at reception. Roads can be narrow.

Power optional concrete slab caravan site

Liked Firstly what an amazing location! High up on top of a mountain, with absolutely stunning views of the alps. The staff were just as amazing, warm and friendly, and helped you with everything. They also have a communal hut to use which has microwave, oven, and a fridge. The toilets were extremely clean and the showers are power showers and lovely and warm. There is also a tavern 100m away and a real sense of international campers. I would thoroughly recommend this campsite.

There are also small children so even though mine is now grown up I think the kids would be well looked after and very safe here if they were still young.

Power optional concrete slab caravan site

Liked Incredible location with the most fantastic views. Plenty of beautiful walks and cycle rides in the hills around.
Very friendly service.
Very clean facilities.

Disliked The pitches were small, cramped together a bit. We had a campervan and it felt a bit like a car park but all had good views.

Local attractions

Active types will no doubt be itching to discover the Bernese Alps on foot or by bike; expert hikers can yomp up the Bäderhorn (20 minutes’ drive) for stunning views to Mont Blanc from the summit. There’s a popular and way-marked loop through the Gastlosen massif from Musersbergli car park (15 minutes) that’s good for competent teenage walkers, and if you’re with younger kids, a gentle hike through alpine meadows around the campsite may suffice. Cyclists can take the switchback road through a steep mountain pass up to Jaun (around two hours by bike), a gorgeous village of traditional chalets with steep pitched roofs tucked into the mountain foothills. If you need a picnic spot, plonk yourselves down on the banks of the dramatic waterfall just outside the village. When you’re staying at Camping Jaunpass in late November, there may already be a scattering of snow. While the ski resorts don’t officially open until the end of December, you can get out on the slopes with the kids to have rollicking snowball fights or try out snowshoeing.
