- Simple campsite with mountain and olive grove views in northern Murcia
- A 15-minute drive to Monte Arabí and to shops and attractions in Yecla
- Swimming pool and shared firepit on site; walks and cycle rides nearby
A warm welcome awaits at The Blue House Arabí, tucked away between mountains and olive groves near the historic town of Yecla in Murcia. This small rural site is surrounded by fruit trees and is well located for keen motorcyclists, mountain bikers and hikers looking to overnight – or bed down for longer and explore the area – at a secluded and remote country retreat.
The simplicity of the facilities – including showers, a launderette (available for a small charge) and washing-up sink – is offset by spectacular views of Mount Arabí, plus the welcome presence of a small swimming pool for cooling off after hot summer days spent walking or biking in the mountain foothills.
Heads up on a couple of points here: to reach the property there is a five-minute drive along a well-maintained track. You really do need your own transport to get here easily and make the most of the local sightseeing.
The nearest town is Yecla (15 minutes’ drive), which has shops for picking up barbecue goodies to cook on the communal firepit. Please feel free to ask the accommodating owners if there is anything you need – they live on site and are on hand to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible.

Local attractions
People have lived in this untamed corner of Murcia for many centuries, as shown by the eerie prehistoric paintings of human figures and animals – created some 10,000 years ago – found in ravines and caves around Monte Arabí (15 minutes’ drive).
Coming up to date and moving down to the Costa Blanca coastline, the elegant city of Alicante (an hour and 15 minutes) combines a modern beach resort with sprawling street markets and an atmospheric old town chock full of tapas bars lining cobbled squares. If you’re after some nightlife action, the lively pubs and late-closing clubs of Benidorm (an hour and 30 minutes) are your best bet.
For a more sedate day out, consider Yecla (15 minutes), with its richly decorated Santuario del Castillo looming over the town; climb the meandering pathway up to the church for views over rooftops to 16th-century Palacio de los Alarcos and the distinctive blue-and-white striped dome of Basílica de la Purísima. Sightseeing done, settle at a café in Plaza Mayor to share some tapas and relax with a glass of chilled white wine.
