Costa Dorada coastline, Catalonian coves, Spanish theme parks and a splendid Spanish nature reserve… all await at Tarragona's Camping Ametlla near the Catalonian fishing town of L'Ametlla de Mar on the northeastern coast. The site is right next to the sea, with direct access to two coves, and in an area of natural interest. It's also close to the wetlands of the Ebro Delta Natural Park and a 35-minute drive from the theme park PortAventura World. This is a prime place to explore the scenery of Costa Dorada. Camping Ametlla has a family-friendly atmosphere and arranges entertainment and activities for all ages during high season. Taste the local cuisine in the bar-restaurant or take charge of your own food by shopping in the on-site shop. A playground, a sports area and seasonal outdoor pools are also on site.

Liked: Everywhere was very clean. Showers were fantastic, powerful and very clean . Pitches were good size. Walkways very good. Well stocked supermarket. Great pools with lots of sunbed areas. Staff welcoming and friendly.

Disliked: Very little to dislike on this site. WiFi reception extremely poor. Better links to nearby town would be good.

Liked: La animación un 10 , los lavabos y duchas muy limpios ,mucha tranquilidad estan pendientes de que no hagan ruido por la noche y se pueda descansar.los espectáculos son espectaculares y en el supermercado hay de todo.las calas son naturales. Además del restaurante hay una pizzería.volvere probaremos los bungalows el próximo año

Liked: Wir hatten einen Wohnwagen Stellpatz für einen 9m Wagen, Zugdeixel ragte leider auf die Straße. War nicht ganz von Vorteil. Ansonsten Platz sauber, angenehm schattig, Anlage sauber.

Disliked: Leider kein Sandstrand und für Hunde wenigBademöglichkeiten.

Liked: We loved this site. Great pitches with very good facilities. There’s direct access to a pebble beach and fantastic coastal walks. The staff were very friendly. The on site shop is of high quality. The restaurant is in a lovely position and serves quality food.

Disliked: The WiFi was a bit patchy

Local attractions

As it's the coast, fishing and watersports are handily available nearby, along with other active options like hiking, cycling and wandering around the Ebro Delta Natural Park, one of the biggest wetland areas of the western Med. The five areas and many rides of the PortAventura theme park are also nearby in Salou; plan a couple of days for here to also dive into the Costa Caribe Aquatic Park and down its huge freefall slide. And then another day for Salou itself, the ancient port town of beaches, coves, the Lumine Golf Club and the Auditorium Theatre. About 10 kilometres from Salou is Tarragona, a fab city filled with Roman ruins: it was used as a colony and fortress by the Scipios during Rome's lengthy spat with the Carthaginians. The Roman ruins of Tarragona are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site with piles of Latin remains to see: frankly you'd need to stay in town for a month or so to see the whole heap, but if you can only manage a day or two, top picks for most folk would be the old city walls, the Tarragona Amphitheatre and, just outside town, Les Ferreres Aqueduct.
