'Pitching up under palm trees' may well have you sold from the start, but there's quite a bit more to a stay at Camping Sant Salvador on the Catalonia coast. The park is in Sant Salvador, next door to Coma Ruga, and has all sorts of seaside activities within a short walk: shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, watersports and sandy beaches. Barcelona is less than an hour's drive away along the coast and easy to get to via the excellent Coma Ruga transport links. Nearer to base, the museums and sights of Roman city Tarragona are half an hour's drive away for (several?) days out and the PortAventura adventure park is about half an hour's drive away. All is muy bueno on site, with a dedicated team always around to help. A spacious shower and loo block are among the amenities, along with washing machines and tumble dryers, a playground, a restaurant/café and tourist information at reception. During the summer, there are also family activities to get stuck into.

  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Reception is unmanned after 9 p.m.. Please inform the campground while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.

Brilliant beachside spot with great staff. Bathrooms clean but a bit old. Roads and some sites can be tight for big rigs, and a few found trees overgrown or areas not spotless.

Liked Near to beach and restaurants along the promenade.
On-site Pizza bar looked good,
Site supermarket (though a little expensive)
There’s a dog bath.

Disliked Pitch wasn’t level, and awkward to get in even for our small van.
There isn’t a place to rinse out chemical toilet.
Showers need an update.

Liked Nahe an Strand(promenade), nur durch Straße davon getrennt. Großer Supermarkt am Platz, Preis ok. Umfangreiche Sanitäranlagen

Disliked Kleine Parzellen. Hatte Probleme beim Rangieren mit Wohnwagen auf dem Platz (eng). Sanitärbereich etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Karaoke direkt neben Parzelle (aber nur bis 2230 Uhr)

Disliked Le camping en général ,place trop petite et pas conforme a la réservation. Comme sur un parking ,pas de végétation, plein soleil avec vue sur le parking ,vraiment horrible. Je suis pas prêt d y retourner.

Liked La place des emplacements. Les locaux des sanitaires sont régulièrement nettoyés mais un peu vétustes. Beaucoup d’ombre.

La proximité de la plage, dans l’eau en 5 min à peine.

Disliked On nous a expliqué où était l’emplacement mais pour le reste nous nous sommes débrouillés car personne ne nous a accompagné.. nous avons fait 2 tours de camping avec un camping car de 7m sur 2.30m de long …

Liked It's not too bad but is not 3 stars, I'd say more like 2 maxim.

Disliked There is not an option to book your space. You need to do the check in, and after that you need to go to find a plot yourself, and it's hard as other people take more than 1 space and is very hard to squeeze in between.

Route directions

On the C-32 from Barcelona, take Exit 19 onto the B-20/C-32. Come off at Exit 3 onto the TV-2127 towards El Vendrell Sud/Sant Salvador. Follow Ctra. Sant Salvador, turn right onto Av. Palfuriana and you will find the campsite on your left.

Local attractions

After a few days on the beaches and in the bars of Coma Ruga, take the public transport network to Tarragona (otherwise half an hour's drive) and the remains of the Roman Empire's forays into Spain. Here historians can view the many sites among the Roman remains of Tarraco: the citadel, Roman circus, house of Augustus, the second-century Amfiteatre Romà, the remains of the Roman forum in the medieval Old Town, and the Passeig Arqueològico ramparts for city views. Buzzing Barcelona (an hour) is also very much a must, both for its city sightseeing around its several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and basking on one of its eight beaches including Barceloneta. Dozens of historic buildings and structures are here to see, like Barcelona Cathedral and the Arc de Triomf; if you need a rest, you'll never be far away from a Barcelona park, garden or peaceful square. For the kids or adventurous adults, the park at PortAvenutura (half an hour) includes rollercoaster rides for thrillseekers, water rides, several themed areas and the Caribbean-themed Costa Caribe Aquatic Park alongside. Additionally, guests will find plenty of outdoorsy activities in the immediate area such as watersports, fishing, hiking and cycling. A little further afield, try cantering around Catalonia on horseback or teeing off at one of the region's 40-odd golf clubs.
