  • Family-friendly site next to a 3.5-kilometre stretch of sandy beach
  • A 15-minute drive to Pals; 25 minutes to boats for the Medes Islands
  • Pool, kids’ pool, playground, coffee shop, restaurant and live shows
If you’re keen on gold-sand beaches, mountains and medieval towns, you should be rather a fan of Kampaoh Costa Brava. This Catalonia glamping site sits alongside a glorious three and a half kilometres of sandy beach, with natural dunes and gorgeously clear waters, and there are mountainous landscapes and intriguing towns to visit nearby too. Chief among those nearby attractions are the wetlands, mountains and islands of Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park and the hilltop medieval town of Pals, which is 15 minutes’ drive away. And when you’re not out exploring the local landscapes, there’s plenty to keep you occupied on site too – Kampaoh Costa Brava has a swimming pool, a kids’ pool, a miniature golf course and sports courts for guests to use. Kids can have a run about at the playground, and there are high-season activities for kids and adults alike, followed by an extensive programme of live music, shows and other entertainment in the evenings. Everything at this site is designed to make life nice and easy for guests, and that includes having refreshment options on site including a bar, a coffee shop and a restaurant. The same goes for the glamping tents, which are kitted out with beds and bed linen so you won’t have to lift a finger to get settled in. Shared facilities include a launderette and bathrooms with toilets and showers.

Local attractions

Where to first? Well, presumably to Pals (15 minutes’ drive) – this medieval village was once rather neglected but has been restored and is now a lovely place for a visit. As you wander around, look out for the towers of the ramparts, the castle and the Romanesque church. You could also stop in at the Museu-Casa de Cultura Ca La Pruna, or just grab a table at one of the village’s cafés and watch life unfold around you. For more dips into local history, take a walk up to Montgrí Castle (20 minutes), wander around the town of La Bisbal d’Empordà (25 minutes) and visit its Terracotta Museum, or head to Ullastret (25 minutes), dating back to the third century BC and one of the largest Iberian settlements to be discovered. As for natural landscapes, there are great hikes in either the Muntanyes de Begur (25 minutes) or Montgrí Massif (half an hour), and you can join scuba diving, snorkelling or kayaking tours to the Medes Islands from L’Estartit (25 minutes).
