Honestly, these scenic high-up surrounds would be reason enough to book a week – or three – at Camping Órgiva, among the Alpujarra mountains on the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada. But. This beaut mountain site is also among a pretty landscaped garden, with green shrubs, trees and colourful flowers among its mighty mountain backdrop. And it's a mere five-minute amble from the town of Órgiva, such a popular place for those who come to hike, climb and ramble the surrounding mountains that it's nicknamed the gateway to the Alpujarras. Catch a bus from Órgiva town to get along to days at Málaga, province capital Granada, and several of the mountains' traditional little villages. By foot (because you surely should have hikes around here), this is a walkers' paradise site, with easy access to the G R7 and G 142 paths as well as the shorter miners' and olive tree trails: all fab, all recommended. Camping Órgiva has been going scenically strong since 1996, with the ultimate aim of providing top-quality service to its guests. Sample this for yourself in the acclaimed restaurant, which serves traditional local cuisine, lamb, Iberian sausages, salads, regional cheeses and loads more, or when chatting to the friendly site team: there are reasons why Camping Órgiva comes highly recommended by former guests… Leisure facilities include a seasonal outdoor pool, a playground and free wifi. There's a snack bar as well as the restaurant, a food shop, and vending machines dispensing cold drinks. Car parking at the site is free.

Peaceful park with roomy sites & mountain views. Clean loos & hot showers a winner! Staff were ace, stream nearby with good dog walks. Restaurant was hit-and-miss, but vibes are chill. Needs better signs & clearer opening hours.

Liked Location and views driving through the mountains to campsite are amazing. Pitches are a decent size and bathroom facilities are kept very clean. The showers are hot and plenty of room in the cubicle.

Liked Spacious pitches, very traditional Spanish feel, great restaurant offering free tapas with your beer.
Fantastic views right up in the mountains.
Great place for serious cyclists and motorbikers..the roads are fantastic for this!

Disliked Bar staff were not that friendly but receptionist was lovely.
Pitches were uneven so although big tricky to get level.
Right on a main road so you do need transport really,
Wifi in and out

Liked Allowed to set up anywhere, birds singing, quiet apart from children playing and everyone relaxed, good bathrooms and showers and a good price for my single tent.

Disliked Only the long walk uphill to reach Orgiva. The restaurant business not very friendly to visitors.

Liked Nous avons passé un excellent séjour en famille au camping d'Órgiva. Le cadre est magnifique, en pleine nature, et l'ambiance y est très ressourçante. Un grand merci au personnel pour son accueil chaleureux et sa gentillesse. Nous sommes très satisfaits de notre expérience et nous recommandons vivement ce camping !

Disliked Seul petit bémol : le camping n'accepte pas que l'on recharge les voitures électriques sur place. C'est un peu dommage aujourd'hui. Malgré cela, nous restons très satisfaits de notre séjour !

Liked The location is stunning with the mountains surrounding the site. It is so peaceful with just birdsong to hear. There are great walks from site. There is a restaurant on site.

Liked Auch für wohnmobile mit einer länge von 7.50 m sehr gut geeignet .
Auch die zufahrt ideal.

Disliked Wenn man nicht freude am wandern hat ist es sehr schwierig etwas zu unternehmen.
Vor allem mut dem E-Bike keine möglichkeit.

From the A-44, take Exit 175 and continue on the A-348 signposted Orgiva. When you approach the village, you will find the entrance on the right (2km before Orgiva).

Local attractions

Camping Órgiva is in a spectacular location, with easy access to Granada and the Alhambra (60 kilometres via the A-44), the small town of Barranco de Poqueira (35 minutes' drive) or the famed beaches of Motril and Salobreña, reachable in about half an hour. Two first-rate and scenic walks are nearby, the GR 7 route, which at over 9,000 kilometres is the longest path in all of Europe, and the somewhat more doable GR 147 or Path of La Alpujarra, running through the Granada and Almería provinces and around the Sierra Nevada. Even more doable, the old miners' route and the 'route of 100 olive trees' are both nearby too; ask the site team to point you in the right direction. Local town Órgiva should be an early start on your mountainous hol too, for its lively vibe, big Thursday market and bus services connecting the town to the coast, Lanjarón and Granada. The town also has a public pool and a football pitch.
