If you like a bit of ‘me’ time thrown in with your camping holiday, then you’ll probably love seafront Peniche Praia – this site has a dreamy modern spa where you can relax and rejuvenate in peace while overlooking Portugal’s Atlantic coastline. Near some of the world’s best surfing beaches, Peniche Praia has several level grass pitching areas on the seafront, each with electric hook-ups, a water supply and secure parking. Other handy amenities to make your life easy include washing machines and dryers, and a waterside barbecue and picnic area. There’s also a restaurant if you’d like to avoid cooking every day. You can join aqua-aerobics classes and make use of the gym on site, and when it’s time to get out and about exploring the rocky Peniche peninsula, you can hire bikes too. Staff members will also book surfing lessons for all levels of ability as well as transport to the beaches. But back to that thalasso spa. Facilities range from two saltwater pools to a sauna and steam room, whirlpool jets, massages and holistic treatments. It’s quite likely that you’ll abandon plans to head off site altogether once you’ve seen it… and who could blame you?

Stunning ocean views, but facilities are a bit rough around the edges. Toilets and showers need TLC, dishwashing taps are a bit dodgy, and some sites are a tad cramped and dusty. Pool's a bit chilly. Friendly staff, though!

Liked Ofrecía muchos servicios: spa, gimnasio, buen restautante. La ubicación: cerca de la playa. Atención por parte de los recepcionistas y camareros de restaurante excelente

Disliked Los baños no estaban muy limpios... No había papel ni jabón de manos (cosas básicas que si he encontrado en otros campings de Portugal). No había tienda para comprar cosas básicas como pan, agua, o algún olvido que hayas podido tener...
La zona para fregar platos tiene unas piletas muy bajas. Los grifos no mantienen el agua mucho rato y cuesta lavar mucha vajilla por la duración del agua, aparte te pones lleno de agua porque están muy bajos y salpica todo.

Liked Bathrooms were very clean!!!

Disliked No trees/shade, dogs allowed in park but not near pool area or in restaurant. restaurant didn’t open till 9 for breakfast. Very windy. Pool very chlorinated and small. 2 tiny refrigerators that needed defrosting/cleaning.

Disliked La parcela de tierra y super dura para clavar las piquetas.
Los baños los dos , siempre a cualquier hora muy sucios y olian mal.
La zona de lavar platos,los grifos salpicaba mucho y te ponías perdido.y los fregadero siempre atascados

Liked El entorno es espectacular.
El camping en general es tranquilo y el ambiente relajado y amigable.
Tienes los servicios mínimos cubiertos, baños, electricidad, fregaderos, piscina, etc.
Los trabajadores fueron amables, no hay una pega para ellos.
El check in y el check out muy cómodo y rápido.
Muy permisivos con los animales, nosotros llevábamos un perro y podía andar prácticamente por todo el camping excepto alguna zona concreta, eso si, lógicamente atado. Incluso había una zona habilitada jugar ellos pero no nos informaron de ella y la descubrimos el último día…
Por las mañanas los baños estaban limpios ya que pasaban varias veces a limpiar

Disliked Las instalaciones son antiguas y están bastante maltratadas, los grifos no había uno que funcionase correctamente, las parcelas eran de tierra y llenas de basura, los baños no disponen ni de papel higiénico ni de jabón, lo del papel me parece muy incómodo tener que andar con el rollo cuando es algo muy barato que deberían dispensar ellos, los baños solo se limpiaban por las mañanas, a las noches estaban siempre muy sucios.
Había bastante ruido ya que hay un gimnasio externo pero dentro de la propia instalación del camping lo que ocasiona ruido por las mañanas temprano.
El enchufe para la electricidad está bastante lejos de algunas de las parcelas, porque hay una caja para cubrir mucha parcelas.

Disliked Le piazzole polverose, puoi piazzare il camper dove meglio credi ma le piazzole sono strettissime. Alla fine pur avendo prenotato con anticipo, ci siamo sistemati davanti ai cassonetti dell’immondizia.

Local attractions

Blasted by ocean waves over millions of years, the coastline of Peniche peninsula rewards exploration with dramatic cliffs along its northern coast, and numerous sandy beaches with exceptional surfing conditions. The experts among you should head for Praia do Medão Grande (aka Supertubos, 10 minutes’ drive), notorious for its tubular waves, while Praia Norte (50 minutes) has gentler waves and is the place for novices to build up confidence. If surfing’s not for you, enjoy watching the Atlantic waves roll in from atop the cliffs around Cabo Carvoeiro Lighthouse, and marvel at the blow hole carved through sheer rock at the Varanda de Pilatos (both five minutes). The historic fishing village of Peniche (five minutes’ walk) is home to a resistance museum in its impressive castle and a flamboyant gold altarpiece in São Pedro Church. It’s also the gateway for cruises (half an hour by boat) out to the rocky Berlengas Islands, a UNESCO-protected archipelago where you can tour the landmark Fortress of St John the Baptist, go cave-snorkelling in pristine water and follow trails through Berlengas Nature Reserve to (hopefully) spot nesting cormorants and peregrine falcons.
