  • Traditional Otago holiday park with a laidback, family-friendly vibe
  • Next to the Clutha river; Roxburgh 15 minutes' drive
  • Within a few minutes' walk of a café, tavern and bus stop
This traditional Kiwi holiday park prides itself on its laidback, family-friendly vibes and its easy access to the very best parts of inland and coastal Otago. Located in the small settlement of Millers Flat by the mighty Clutha river, this spot is great for families, groups or couples looking for somewhere cosy to stay. All travellers here have access to a well-maintained bathroom and a laundry room that they can use throughout their stay. There's also a spacious camp kitchen with two ovens, two fridges, two cooktops, a microwave, toasters and hot water. Mugs, cutlery, pots and plates are all supplied if you haven't got your own, and there's also a TV and a comfy couch you can sink into after a long day of exploring. The site is pet-friendly, so dogs are welcome to come along – but please keep them on a lead and outside the park’s facilities at all times. Millers Flat Holiday park is located within a few minutes' walk of local amenities, including a bus stop, a café, a tavern and a seasonal solar-heated swimming pool. Popular leisure activities in the surrounding area include cycling along the Clutha Gold Trail, a flat 70-kilometre route that passes through lush green farmland. The nearest supermarket is in Roxburgh, approximately 15 minutes away by car.

Local attractions

The surrounding countryside has plenty of places to explore. Head down pretty Teviot Road for a few miles to see the remnants of New Zealand's largest stone ruin, the Teviot Station Woolshed (10 minutes' drive), once the largest woolshed in the world. A little further down the road, you can reach Horseshoe Bend Suspension Bridge (10 minutes), an intriguing structure dating back to 1913. For a day of sport, you could head off to other parts of the Teviot Valley for fishing. The Clutha river is home to healthy stocks of both brown and rainbow trout, and slightly further afield you could travel to Lake Onslow (45 minutes), a spot that's particularly popular with local anglers. For some faster-paced action on the water instead, try On Edge Waterski and Wakeboard School (10 minutes), where group and individual lessons are available for these fantastic sports. If you don't mind the drive, it's about an hour and a quarter to the coast at Kaka Point, a seaside village next to a sandy beach with great bush walks nearby. Swimming, kayaking, surfing and fishing are all possible here throughout the summer months.
