  • Next to the Zwolse Vaart for watersports; Giethoorn 20 minutes' drive
  • Outdoor pool, restaurant, miniature golf and tennis courts on site
Watersports and woodland walks on your wishlist? Get yourselves along to Recreatiepark De Voorst, in the Voorsterbos nature reserve a couple of kilometres from Kraggenburg. The pitches at this family-friendly Flevoland park are spacious, peaceful and shaded by trees, and they're in an excellent spot for outdoor adventures, with places like the Zwolse Vaart, Weerribben-Wieden National Park and Ketelmeer all close by. Fishing, swimming, walks and paddleboarding are all top pastimes around here – and there are bikes and paddleboards for hire to help you along. There are other lovely spots to visit nearby too (including the gorgeous village of Giethoorn) for when you fancy a gentler day out. Or how about a gentler day on site? There’s plenty to keep everyone happily amused on site, including an outdoor swimming pool, a paddling pool, a miniature golf course, tennis courts and a playground. In summer there’s also a busy programme of kids' activities and entertainment (things like fishing competitions, discos and a musical) organised by the site team. Keeping everyone fuelled up for all this activity is easy as well, whether you're after a sit-down meal at the restaurant, something quick from the snack bar or picnic supplies from the shop. Other handy facilities on site include wifi, a chemical disposal point and a launderette.

Liked: The place is beautiful. The owners of the camp are very friendly.very close to Giethoorn.

Disliked: The Sanitary facilities are not enough for the camp and not clean. No markets nothing on the camping. There are so many mosquitoes and ticks that we couldn’t stay outside and returned one day earlier than planned. After we were back home, we found tick on my husband’s body. I found at least 6 other ticks from my dog (although he had anti tick med)

Local attractions

Heading out to explore your surroundings? The Zwolse Vaart, which runs alongside the park, might well be the place to start – you can walk along the waterside path, go fishing, take a dip or launch paddleboards or canoes. If you'd like a longer walk or bike ride, pick up a trail map at reception and see what your options are. A little further afield, there are more fabulous trails to follow in the Weerribben-Wieden National Park (20 minutes' drive), or you can wander among butterflies, see colourful orchids and parrots or meet exotic beasts like alpacas and lemurs at Pantropica (15 minutes). For a historic theme to your wanders, visit the pretty village of Giethoorn (20 minutes), known as the ‘Dutch Venice' because of its canals, or explore 10,000 years of history at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Schokland (15 minutes). More days out? How about the rides and amusements of Walibi Holland (40 minutes) or the indoor and outdoor water-themed exhibits and games at Batavialand (35 minutes)?
