Ssh... there are secret beaches around here – and within easy hiking distance of this spectacular site near Montenegro's Adriatic Sea coast. Hitch up your hiking shorts, pack your comfiest sunbathing gear, and enquire of the team at Namaste Village just where these beaches can be found: hint, there are two within 30 to 45 minutes' walk. If that's somewhat too much effort (pffft), it's a 20-minute amble from this Montenegro Coastal site to the port town and tourist resort of Bar, where you can carve out your own sunbathing spot among the municipality's nine kilometres of golden sands. Namaste Village is an eco-friendly site, in a wildlife haven among sea and mountains, and set up for wellness breaks, retreats, seaside breaks and adventure hols. Sailing, canyoning, diving and fishing are all popular around the Bar region and regular festivals, night markets, parties, gigs and outdoor theatre events run throughout the year. And what a lot there is to do on site too. Kickstart your day with a beverage of choice from the café, then while away the hour or two until elevenses at the Namaste outdoor pool while the kids keep themselves suitably entertained at the playground or are suitably entertained at the kids' – or teens' – club. After that, there's fishing to be had, tennis to try, bikes to hire for local exploring, a TV room and games room to retreat to... and then entertainment dished up to you on summer evenings by the site team. There's plenty of choice for eats all day long as well: have meals and snacks served up to you on a regular basis, or prepare them your own good self on a campfire or barbecue..

Local attractions

Have a day or two in municipality capital Bar for several beaches and an old old vibe: the town cathedral dates back to the 11th century and Bar is also home to the 16th-century Bar Aqueduct, the only remaining historic aqueduct in the country. Other Bar sights worth a look are the 19th-century King Nikola’s Palace, with botanic garden and pier; the Bar Old Town; the harbour and city museum; Mount Rumija Fortress, and the Old Olive of Mirovica, thought to be one of the oldest olive trees in Europe. If you're looking for another sandy spot among the Bar municipality's 20 beaches, head north west along the coast to Maljevik beach, for activities, events and restaurants as well as golden sands.
