There sure is a fab range of watersports activity to be had for those making the 10-minute drive to Upper-Sûre Lake: launch into the shallows for a swim or down into the deep for a scuba dive, or stick to the surface for days of sailing, canoeing or windsurfing. There’s a cracking collection of castles to wander around nearby, too – if you’re feeling a little weary after visits to Esch-sur-Sûre Castle and Bourscheid Castle (both 10 minutes’ drive), it’s possible you’ll perk up on learning that Wiltz Castle (20 minutes) also houses a brewing museum. Recent history gets documented at Wiltz Castle’s Battle of the Bulge exhibit; chart a course further back into days of yore at the MNHM National Museum of Military History (25 minutes) and Robbesscheier open-air museum (35 minutes). Don a hard hat and venture beneath ground at Stolzembourg Copper Mine (half an hour) for insights into the hard graft of historic miners (and quite possibly to feel grateful for your current career).
