  • Peaceful family-friendly site on the eastern shore of Lake Garda
  • In Brenzone sul Garda, 10 minutes' walk from the castle
  • Waterfront bar on site; public beach and restaurants a short walk
Lake Garda is one of those places where you’ll probably want to spend as much time as possible simply staring at the stunning scenery. And you’ll be able to do exactly that when you stay at Camping Monja, a Verona site that sits right on the lake’s eastern shore, with spectacular views over the crystal-clear waters and the surrounding mountains. Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and with lots of green space on site, this is a gorgeous spot for a relaxing break by the water’s edge. It’s also a great starting point for the local hiking trails and for lake activities like fishing, windsurfing and kayaking. You can also take a cool dip from the lake beach a couple of minutes’ walk away. This welcoming and family-friendly site is on the edge of the village of Brenzone sul Garda, a pretty place that stretches along the lake’s shoreline. The centre is about 20 minutes’ walk away, with a good collection of shops and places to eat, and there are waterfront restaurants and bars within a few minutes’ walk – several of them serving local wines and fresh fish from the lake. Even closer is the site’s own bar, with games to play and tables looking out over the lake. You can buy breakfast on site too, and there are other facilities including a TV room, a launderette, wifi and bathrooms with toilets and showers. An information point should help you pick your local outings, and reception staff can help with booking excursions and transport.

Local attractions

Brenzone sul Garda is actually made up of several small hamlets, all of which are well worth exploring for their ancient stone buildings and cute shops and cafés. Medieval Brenzone Castle, 10 minutes’ walk away, is the one place you really shouldn’t miss while you’re here. Another excellent idea is to ride the cable car from Malcesine (10 minutes’ drive) to the top of Monte Baldo for walks and sweeping views. The lakefront has plenty of options for activities, including watersports and fishing, and the area around the site has lots of trails through olive groves, vineyards and woodlands – this is one of the quieter spots by the lake so you should have a nice peaceful wander here. To see a bit more of the lake, take a ferry over to Gargnano to explore its lemon groves and visit its historic villas, or wander around towns like Riva del Garda (35 minutes’ drive) and Sirmione (an hour). Gardaland, Movieland and the Sea Life Aquarium are about 45 minutes away.
