To central Italy’s largest lake you go… Lake Trasimeno, surrounded by small towns and villages, farms, pines and willows is a setting you’re sure to remember. Good job there’s a place right on the shore to take it all in from: Camping Eden Park is a small, family-run site under a pine forest, with what the owners claim are some of the best sunsets on the lake. The reception marks the start of the cycle path around the lake, where you’ll probably want to keep your eyes peeled for ducks, kites and kingfishers flitting about. It’s a short drive or cycle to the lake’s towns and villages. Sweet medieval Passignano sul Trasimeno, 10 minutes’ drive away, has a 14th-century tower, church and a lively fishing scene. Sojourn in Castiglione del Lago too, 25 minutes’ drive away on the opposite side of the lake, to explore the Etruscan tomb ruins, a castle, and the just-gorgeous old town. When you’ve finished your important business sipping coffee on the historic terraces and watching the fishermen go about their business, return to the peaceful, dog-friendly site’s facilities. There are indoor hot-water showers, toilets and a lovely selection of picnic benches in the prime spot right next to the lake. Supermarkets are within a five-minute drive of Camping Eden Park too – how handy.

This lakeside camp's got ripper views & a chill vibe, with staff often praised. Handy for walking/cycling tracks. Some reckon the loos/showers are a bit old and not always spotless. Dogs barking and bugs, especially mozzies, can be a bother. And yeah, the lake ain't always top for a dip.

Liked Accoglienza stupenda da vero campeggio. Campeggiatori solari e disponibilissimi, anche il gestore Maurizio impeccabile.

Le zone verdi e le piazzole sono tenute bene nel rispetto della vegetazione de dei suoi spazi.

Il bar offre anche il servizio colazione.

Disliked Purtroppo, anche se per cause al di fuori delle gestione, i servizi igenici sono datati ma comunque funzionanti.

Liked Wir hatten einen schönen Platz mit sensationeller Aussicht, Schatten und Wind. Der Chef der Anlage war sehr nett. Es gibt direkt am UfScher Tische die morgens im Schatten sind. Wir hatten eine leckere Pizza. Schöner Sonnenuntergang über dem See.

Disliked Die Toiletten waren stark verschmutzt. Das Speisenangebot im Restaurant war sehr beschränkt. Es gab eine Zuckmückenplage (sie stechen nicht).

Liked L'accoglienza calorosa di Maurizio, piazzola fronte lago con vista spettacolare.
Molto gradita la "braciolata" organizzata per il 1 maggio.

Disliked Nostra dimenticanza di non aver fatto presente di aver già pagato le 6 euro al momento della prenotazione.
Cosa che comunque non ci è stata detta dal proprietario. ( ammesso che il proprietario li abbia ricevuti dal sito di prenotazione).

Top of your list to visit might be Perugia (20 minutes), the capital of Umbria. It has bounds of historic sites, including Renaissance paintings in the cathedral, a marble fountain, and a medieval palace. And where next? The pilgrimage destination Assisi (40 minutes)? Orvieto (an hour and 15 minutes), positioned on a cliff with access to underground caves? Walking in the woods of Fonti del Clitunno (50 minutes)? A hilltop town might tempt you: perhaps Deruta (half an hour) famous for its ceramics or Todi (45 minutes) with its palaces and cathedral?
