- Family-friendly site on the edge of Dimaro in the Dolomite Mountains
- A 25-minute drive from Lake Malghette and Lake Santa Giustina
- Sports centre on site organising activities and excursions
To the mountains you go… Set in the Dolomite Mountains in Trentino-Alto Adige, Camping Dolomiti is the sort of place where you can spend the day hiking, skiing and mountain biking in the mountains before coming back to base to put your feet up and gaze at the scenic green slopes of the Val di Sole.
This Trentino-Alto Adige site is just outside of Dimaro in the Italian Alps, so it's handily placed for outdoor activities. The on-site sports centre can help to organise guided excursions to make the most of the area. In summer, trips include rafting, canyoning, Nordic walking, climbing and mountain biking; in winter, buses from the site run regularly to the ski area around two kilometres away, which has both downhill and cross-country trails.
The site has its own restaurant where guests are very welcome to fill up their tummies after a day out skiing or climbing. If you crave some more exercise, head to the padel courts, miniature golf course or ping pong area. During the summer, there's a kids' club along with activities for all including aqua gym classes, discos and sports tournaments.
For those doing their own cooking, a food shop (open during high season only) is on site for picking up essentials. There are also areas to set up barbecues on site.
Being just a 15-minute walk away from the centre of Dimaro also has its perks. Firstly, despite staying in a quiet spot you'll be well within reach of bars and restaurants. Secondly, it's nice and convenient, as the site is easy to reach by car or public transport; Dimaro has good bus connections and trains to Trento.

Local attractions
To the mountains… take off under your own steam in all weathers on the hiking and cycling trails around Camping Dolomiti, or join one of the many excursions arranged regularly by the team – perhaps rafting, canyoning, climbing or mountain biking in the Alpine surroundings. A cycle path runs along the Noce river from Dimaro (bicycle hire is available on site).
Other options are within biking or driving distance, such as the Museum of Solandra Culture in Malé (10 minutes' drive), highlighting the historic customs and traditions of the Val di Sole during the last centuries, or Castel Caldes (10 minutes), dating back to the 13th century.
Elsewhere around the valley, you could follow the Noce to where it flows into the artificial Lake Santa Giustina (25 minutes); mooch around Malè (10 minutes); go wildlife watching in Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio (from 15 minutes) or sink into the therapeutic springs of Pejo (25 minutes). Sores Park (45 minutes), an adventure park with treetop trails for all ages, is a good activity for families.
