  • Luxury bell tents and green vineyard in stunning Tuscan surroundings
  • Fully-furnished tents, each with their own private bathroom
  • Communal lodge/kitchen and organic vegetable garden
Stay among vineyards and olive groves in the stunning Tuscan countryside with a bell tent break at the spectacularly scenic site of The Lazy Olive Glamping near Trequanda in the Siena region of Tuscany – a place so well-appointed it even has its own vineyard… The bell tents are in an organic olive grove with splendid views over Tuscan vineyards towards the medieval village of Pienza. It’s a wildlife haven, so look out for jays, pheasants, foxes, polecats, porcupines, badgers, wild boar and – especially at sunset – deer. The stunning countryside around Lazy Olive is easily explored on foot, bike or horseback – if you’re most comfortable on two wheels, bikes are available for guests and more can be rented nearby. The village of Petroio should definitely be a stop on your travels: follow its winding streets and pay a visit to the Terracotta Museum. In the casetta opposite the vineyard, there's a communal kitchen and an outdoor dining table big enough to take the whole camp – guests have access to barbecue facilities and an organic vegetable garden too. Off site, trattorias and restaurants are between five and 10 minutes' drive away. It’s easy to relax here at the end of the day – take a dip in the pool, walk through the grove or get to know your fellow campers at the casetta. You can also start and end the day in a state of relaxation: find your zen with a yoga class or get a massage under the olive trees.

Local attractions

Your exploration of wine country can go far beyond the on-site vineyard… take a day trip to Montalcino (40 minutes’ drive) where you can poke around the cellars of the Brunello producers, or visit the site at Brolio Castle where the production of chianti was revolutionised. If wine doesn’t do it for you, chase a different kind of decadence with a morning of truffle hunting and a picnic at San Giovanni d’Asso, a 20-minute drive from Lazy Olive. On your way back from the hunt, make a detour to the thermal spa at San Giovanni to spend an afternoon taking the waters. To get a flavour of the history of this part of Tuscany, a trip to the UNESCO site and medieval buildings of Pienza is a must. Explore the streets of the 15th-century Renaissance town and gaze out on the stunning landscape that surrounds it – time your trip right and you’ll even get to join in the annual cheese festival… For a longer day trip, head to the museums, galleries and shops of Florence, an hour and 40 minutes’ drive away.
