Caprese Michelangelo… sound familiar? Yes, this village is the birthplace of Michelangelo Buonarotti – and it’s about 10 minutes’ drive from Agriturismo La Casina. The birthplace museum is now a popular attraction, but it’s just one of the many places around here where you can immerse yourself in the culture, history, traditions and nature of Tuscany. In fact, you can start right here on site, as you'll be staying in the grounds of a traditional farmhouse that’s been thoughtfully restored by owners Mario and Elisabetta. The pitches here are on nicely kept grass around the grounds, with access to a good collection of facilities including wifi, a barbecue area, shaded picnic tables and a shared kitchen as well as a bathroom block. Dogs are welcome on site, with a dog park they can use for a run around. There’s also an outdoor pool that campsite guests can swim in when it's not in use. From this gorgeous rural location it’s easy to get out to explore the local surroundings, perhaps taking walks through the forest, popping in to nearby wineries or exploring traditional villages like Sansepolcro and Anghiari. There’s also the option of a day trip to the heritage-packed city of Arezzo (45 minutes' drive away).
