It's free, quick and easy!
- Spectacular site with a private beach, 10 minutes' drive from Patti
- Scenic and peaceful grounds with gardens and accessible pool
- Poolside and rooftop restaurant serving regional food and pizza
You'll wax lyrical indeed when you see the surrounds of fine Sicilian site Camping Il Cicero – such is its lushness that it was officially set up for guests after a plethora of passing travellers pleaded to stay there back in the 1960s.
Perhaps you'll feel poetic first about the stunning beach, a private expanse with still waters, sun loungers and parasols, and a wide vista of the Aeolian Islands and the Gulf of Patti. Or perhaps the handy locale, on Sicily's northern coast on the western shore of Messina? Or – just maybe – the easy means to get about from here, via the boat, motorbike, bike and car rental right from the site, as well as mooring for boats (should you be so lucky to have brought your own).
And then? Get lyrical about the setting (and do see pics too). Il Cicero is a spectacularly scenic site (and do see these pics too), with a varied range of facilities for all tastes, including its own diving centre. Also at your disposal are sunbathing days in the lush gardens of the site accommodation areas; ping pong, beach volleyball and a play area for gentle activity, and a splendid pool with a shallow staircase to aid less able guests.
No surprise that the bar-restaurant is rather fine too, dishing up traditional Sicilian eats, pizzas and drinks from its rooftop and poolside settings overlooking the sea. Theme nights are held by the pool once a week in high season, part of a summer activities programme that includes entertainment and events for all ages.

Local attractions
You'll find loads to see and do in the surroundings, from sandy and watersports days around Patti's famed beaches to pottering around ancient sites nearby and within day trip distance at the likes of Messina, an hour away.
A nearby old spot is at Tindari (25 minutes' drive), the ancient town with the famed Sanctuary of Tindari as well as ruins from its times of Greek and Roman rule (Cicero waxed lyrical about the city way back in 70BC). It's also well worth a day trip – as well as to Messina – to Cefalù, an hour and a half away, for its Tempio di Diana megalithic monument with views out over the sea.
If you fancy a boat trip to and wander around the Aeolian Islands (hint: you really should) take the ferry from Milazzo, 40 minutes' drive to the east.
