  • Spacious and secluded pitches at a peaceful estate in rural Marche
  • A 40-minute drive to Frasassi Caves; 50 minutes to Urbino
  • Swimming pool on site, plus pizza oven, fresh bread and sociable meals
Up at the top of a hill, with gorgeous views, plenty of space and only a small number of guests on site… Landgoed I Magnoni makes a fabulous place for a relaxing stay in the Marche countryside, about 10 minutes’ drive from Pergola. The pitches here have been scattered in secluded spots around the estate so each one has plenty of privacy and peace, along with a good amount of space where you can set up things like outdoor furniture and firepits. It’s just the place for those who appreciate simple pleasures like birdsong, natural scenery and stargazing. Mountain biking, hikes, canyoning and wine tasting are popular picks for outings in the surrounding area – but your hosts also emphasise the concept of ‘dolce far niente’ (the sweetness of doing nothing). It’s certainly an enticing option to spend the day on site, taking a dip in the swimming pool, stretching out on one of the sun loungers and perhaps having a gentle game of table tennis. Kids are welcome to roam around the woods, build dens and climb trees, and there’s also a trampoline and a small play area with a swing and a slide to keep them entertained. The estate is centred around a restored 15th-century farmhouse where the owners live, and a couple of times a week they invite guests to join them for laidback Italian meals on the terrace. There’s also a wood-fired pizza oven in the garden where you can frequently acquire freshly baked pizzas, and freshly baked bread is available to order for your breakfasts. Espresso is available in the coffee room, along with a range of local beers, wines and jams to boost your meals.

Local attractions

There are lots of activities in the surrounding area, and the best way to find them is to chat to the team on site – they can point you towards hiking trails, mountain bike hire, canyoning providers and wine-tasting tours. You may also like to dip into local villages and towns, perhaps visiting the Musei dei Bronzi Dorati in Pergola (10 minutes’ drive), visiting the castle in Mondavio (25 minutes) or strolling through the medieval streets of Corinaldo (half an hour). The city of Urbino (50 minutes) is worth a day trip as well – the historic centre has been listed by UNESCO and there are some great places to see Renaissance art, including the Casa Natale di Raffaello (and there are also some excellent places to eat…) Back out in the countryside, a highlight is a tour of the spectacular Frasassi Caves (40 minutes), which can be explored on a guided walking tour or more adventurous caving-style tours.
