  • Peaceful rural Marche site with gorgeous mountain views
  • Half an hour's drive to Macerata or Monte Sibillini Natural Park
  • Swimming pool, bar, games area and food/wine events on site
Take a look at those views… looking out over the mountains, the rows of olive trees and the lavender fields, you’ll certainly know that you’re on holiday when you’re at Camping44. This family-friendly site is in a particularly peaceful and scenic spot in the Marche countryside, close to the little village of Loro Piceno and about half an hour’s drive from Macerata (home to a rather lovely outdoor opera festival in the summer). It’s a great location for some rural walking or bike outings – you can pick up several routes from the site or head out into the gorgeous Monti Sibillini Natural Park (about half an hour’s drive away) for longer trails. In between outings you’ll have plenty of space to relax on site while soaking up those views – perhaps grabbing a spot by the swimming pool or settling in for a drink at the self-service bar. Other facilities on site include a play area, a net swing, a sandpit, a games cupboard and table tennis/table football to keep the kids entertained. On a more practical level, you’ll also have access to a wifi connection and a launderette, as well as a clean bathroom block with toilets and showers. And how about the food? There’s a barbecue area for guests to use, and seasonal veg for sale fresh from the garden. The bakery delivers fresh bread every morning for breakfast, and you may find that there’s an evening event in the form of an Italian meal or a wine tasting (and if not, there are a couple of restaurants nearby for those who don’t fancy cooking).

From the manager: Wow, è un bel risultato. Grazie Rachel & Rens

Local attractions

Getting out to explore your surroundings should be straightforward, as there are trails (ranging from a kilometre to 10km) running from the site – have a chat to the folk on site for suggestions and to see if you can borrow a guide. There are plenty of places to ride bikes too, or you may like to head to Lago di Fiastra (40 minutes’ drive) for a kayak trip or a wild swim. Monti Sibillini Natural Park (half an hour) is another excellent area for a hike or bike ride – some of the top spots include the waterfalls at Gola del Fiastrone (half an hour) and Gola dell’Infernaccio (an hour) or the Madonna dell’Ambro church (50 minutes). There are lots of cute villages to wander around locally too (Urbisaglia, Mogliano and Tolentino are all good choices) – and there’s also the option of a trip to the seaside, with beaches in the lively town of Civitanova Marche (35 minutes), medieval Sirolo (an hour) and Numana (an hour), where you may spot turtles while snorkelling.
