  • Spacious site just off the SS39 motorway in Aprica-Corteno
  • Easy access to hiking paths, ski lifts and mountain bike trails
  • Restaurant, takeaway, bar, shop and barbecue area
Hiking, mountain biking, golf, climbing, skiing, snowboarding… it’s all about the alfresco activities in the area around Camping Aprica, whatever time of year you pick for your Alpine adventures. Your stay here starts with easy access: the spacious 20,000 square-metre site is just off the SS39 motorway, so no need to negotiate any little mountain paths. And that easy life continues with similarly simple access to shops, restaurants and other assorted amenities in the resort of Aprica-Corteno, a 20-minute walk away. You’ll not even have to roam far for your Lombardy days out: if you’re here in snowy season ski lifts are half a kilometre away, and a ski bus can whisk you off to more far-flung corners of the huge Aprica-Corteno-Golgi ski area. Summer-dwelling guests can instead stretch their legs on several hundred kilometres of marked trails in the surrounding natural parks. Outdoorsy activities can’t happen without stocking up on energy; with this in mind the folk here have given you all sorts of options for a good feed: a well-stocked shop, a barbecue area, a bar serving up breakfasts and snacks (plus drinks, of course), and a restaurant with traditional dishes to eat in or take away. Playgrounds and pétanque provide a bit of added activity for those who’ve got a bit of energy left, and a launderette and heated toilet blocks with family and accessible bathrooms are on hand for folk with a more pressing need to scrub up.

Local attractions

Where to start with the lengthy list of Lombardy Alps outdoorsy days? The mountainous surrounds are stacked with options for hikes, climbs and mountain bike rides, so it’s not a bad idea to kick off with a trip to the tourist office in the resort centre for some ideas of the area’s best trails, or to sign up for guided outings. Up for more adventure? Rafting, quad biking and horse riding are all within 45 minutes’ drive, as are games of golf and more leisurely sightseeing rides on the Treno Rosso from Tirano, half an hour away (take cameras – the big windows are fab for snapping scenic pics). A whole new stack of outings swings into action come the winter months: Aprica-Corteno a couple of kilometres away is a fab area for snow bunnies of all sorts. The resort’s 20 lifts haul skiers of all levels up to around 40 kilometres of pistes, and a shuttle service runs to more distant runs. Snowboarding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are other options if you’re seeking more snowy antics.
