Settling down for a peaceful stay in Imperia's Nervia valley, among chestnuts, eucalyptus and mimosa trees, on a hillside site with spectacular views of the surrounding Alps… sound good? Bag a break at family-run Camping Delle Rose, just over the border from France in a quiet corner of Liguria. Run by Lorena, Mauro and their son Lorenzo, this park aims to give friendly welcomes to all, with attention and services carefully tailored to suit guests' individual needs. The family has added a summer pool and a paddling pool for dips on hot days, a sun terrace for basking at before and after, a playground for the kids, and a pétanque court popular for a spot of competition at the end of a sunny day. Overlooking the pools, the restaurant has regional food as its main focus, dishing up traditional dinners like pesto pasta, homegrown Taggiasche olives and rabbit ragu. Pizzas (always a topping option with the kids) are available from the woodfired oven. Delle Rose also has a bar serving cold drinks, cappuccinos and coffees, as well as a snacks such as sandwiches and quick bites.

Liked Great pool and the views are amazing

Disliked The pitches are not grass, there is no WiFi beyond the swimming pool and no phone signal either. The showers are also in need of some TLC.

Liked Great site, we only used it as a base while travelling though.

Disliked Absolutely not the sites fault, but take lots of bug spray. We got lots of bites.!

Liked Great facilities and pool. The bar and terrace were fantastic too. The staff were really friendly as well.

Disliked Our pitch was 2 metres from the road one side and next to the main site car park on the other side so it was a bit noisy a lot of the time. There were much nicer pitches further in to the site but as we were only there 3 days it didn’t bother us too much.

Liked Great location, only about 20km from the coast but a world away - set in a lovely valley with mountain views. Excellent gluten free pizza options at the restaurant. Excellent new shower and toilet block.

Les sanitaires très modernes.

Disliked L hygiène des sanitaires qui mériteraient plus de passage pour l hygiène. Les canteners poubelles qui ne sont pas évacués souvent par les services extérieurs du camping.

Liked Niente, controllate le recensioni su Google prima di prenotare perché sono ben diverse da quelle presenti qui, probabilmente mi viene da pensare anche finte

Disliked Piazzola più piccola delle dimensioni descritte, sacrificata tra alberi, siepe, prese della corrente elettrica e tende fisse altrui obbligandoci a passare in mezzo alle cose di altre famiglie. Quando siamo arrivati alla nostra piazzola c’era la cuoca in pausa sigaretta, al telefono, vedendoci non si è nemmeno spostata. Ma d’altronde quando siamo andati a chiedere se potevamo cambiare la piazzola il personale non è stato gentile, ci hanno lasciati ad aspettare 1h30 il proprietario.
Bagni sporchi, capelli ovunque e troppo affollati. Piscina uguale, se non peggio.
Campeggio caotico, sovraffollato e male organizzato

Route directions

On the A10, take exit signposted Ventimiglia and continue on the Aurelia Road. Drive through Ventimiglia, at the roundabout in Nervia follow signposts to Strada Provinciale 64. Go through the Isolabona village and continue for approximately 2km. The campsite is on the right. Please don't follow the signposts and ignore the SatNav.

Local attractions

Take your pick of beach, mountain and rural holidays: this peaceful Liguria area is also only about 10 kilometres from the coast, in Italian countryside dotted with medieval villages and fortified towns, castles and churches, busy local food markets and local cafés and small restaurants. The site is also 12 miles from San Remo, a popular place on the Italian Riviera famed for its summer flower markets, the Milan–San Remo cycling classic and the Sanremo Music Festival, the singing competition that inspired the Eurovision Song Contest (whether that's a fab or a naff thing depends on your own individual taste…). Around the site's local municipality of Isolabona, hike the Passo del Cane mountain pass three kilometres away or tackle the peak of Monte Bignone, near San Remo in the San Romolo Natural Park. Coastal spots include Capo Mortola, Capo Verde, Cap Martin and Cap Rognoso; Monaco, Monte Carlo and the French Riviera are under 30 kilometres away.
