It's free, quick and easy!
- Peaceful five and a half hectare site near Vallon Pont d'Arc
- In the Ibie valley among oaks, wild thyme and rosemary
- Pool, playground, trampoline, frog pond, restaurant and snack bar
If you're plotting a hol anywhere in France – or in Europe, or at all – a definite must-see destination at some point must be the Pont d'Arc. This spectacular stone archway is famed for its stunning setting in the Ardèche gorges and for its kayaking: paddling under the arch along the Ardèche river is very much a must.
It's worth the trek here if you're anywhere in the region (or France, or Europe), but if you'd sensibly rather stay nearby and conserve maximum energy for Pont d'Arc kayaking, the family site of Camping Ibie is a top spot. In the Ibie river valley on five and a half hectares' worth of oak trees, wild thyme and rosemary, Camping Ibie is an easy five kilometres from Vallon Pont d'Arc, reachable in 10 minutes' drive.
Get prepped to get active around this area: this part of the Ardèche is prime for outdoor pursuits such as quad biking and karting, climbing and hiking, mountain biking and motorbiking, fishing and – if you dare – getting up into the air with paragliding or microlighting: as the folk at Camping Ibie sensibly say, what could be more memorable than a first flight among the stunning gorges of the Ardèche...
And in between all this? The site has activities and facilities to keep all ages amused, from a play area and a trampoline for bouncing kids, to table football and pinball at the bar; ping pong tournaments; music and shows on July and August evenings, and a weekly pool party on summer Thursdays. There's also a fine big pool to plunge into, as well as loungers alongside, a restaurant with terrace, and site wifi all to aid Ibie idling. (It's a fairly sure bet that kids will like the site frog pond too.)
The site is three kilometres from Lagorce, close to plentiful paths for hiking and mountain biking. Trails lead from the grounds for both; suggested routes are at reception.

Local attractions
Guided tours and canoe rental are available at Vallon Pont d'Arc, as well as canoeing, climbing and horse riding trips if you yearn for something a little more adrenalised.
Make time too for a detour to the cave at Chauvet, only discovered in the 1990s and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its stunning collection of prehistoric paintings. The hundreds of drawings here cover species such as mammoths, panthers, cave lions and bears; see the lot at the Caverne du Pont-d'Arc replica, the biggest replica cave in the world.
For village ambling and shopping, the medieval communes of Labeaume and Balazuc are both within half an hour's drive.
