It's free, quick and easy!
- In the southern Ardèche two kilometres from the Chassezac river
- Many outdoor activities available nearby
- Heated pool, play area and free wifi
Les Cigales is in a right pretty part of France… right in the southern Ardèche region, near several handsome and historic French villages, and only a couple of kilometres from the canoeing, kayaking and simply smashing scenery of the Chassezac river, flowing for almost 85 kilometres through the departments of the Ardèche, Lozère and Gard. More smashing scenery – and much scope for climbing – is at the nearby Chassezac Gorges.
If you’re up for being active, cycling, hiking, fishing, golf and horse riding are all available in the site surrounds as well as that river canoeing and kayaking; if you’re very much not up for being active at any time during your Ardèche hol, stick around on site instead to splash in or bask at the big heated pool.
The campsite also has a playground, a ping pong table, a petanque court and a tennis court (a small charge applies to the tennis court in July and August). The snack bar serves local specialties and does takeaway.
Amenities include four toilet blocks with showers, distributed around the site, a launderette and a washing-up corner. Free wifi is available throughout.

Local attractions
This is indeed a right pretty part of France, deep in the Ardèche and among spectacular scenery of river and countryside as well as being close to the spectacular Chassezac Gorges, a place of watersports and hiking, cliffs and canyons, climbing and kilometres of sand and stone beaches.
The Les Cigales team points out that many a pretty village is around here too: among the scenically recommended are Banne, Thines, Joyeuse, Balazuc, and Labeaume, with its 14th-century Church of Saint-Pierre aux Liens.
The pedestrian-only Naves (yep, cars are pas permitted here) is also one of the team’s top local picks, for its narrow streets and handsome old houses covered in plants and flowers. A botanical trail runs around the back of the village into the surrounding landscape.
Another firm must is a tour La Cocalière cave, the vast formation between Cévennes and Ardèche that's part of a mammoth underground network covering over 30 kilometres.
