What a very fabulous spot for a Var holiday – Camping Caravaning Les Moulières is less than a kilometre from the shores of the Mediterranean, with a peaceful backdrop formed by Les Vieux Salins nature reserve. This family-run French Riviera site has been running since 1969, and it’s easy to see why the place has been such a success: guests get to stay in a seven-acre wooded park, with lots of shade from the trees and scents from the flowers. The small town of La Londe-les-Maures is a couple of kilometres away for handy shops and places to eat, and there’s a good collection of lovely beaches and walking trails nearby to occupy your days (and a fair number of vineyards and wineries, too…). It’s not all about the location, though, as the owners have made great efforts over the years to install a good number of guest facilities – including a multisports court (for games of football, basketball and handball), a pétanque court, an outdoor fitness area, a fitness trail and ping-pong tables. On a more practical front, you’ll also have access to a food shop and a launderette as well as well-equipped bathroom blocks with showers, toilets, accessible facilities and parent-and-baby amenities. Need something else – or a bit of advice on the local area? Drop in to reception and have a chat with the friendly, helpful team that looks after the site.

Les Moulières is a chill spot with roomy, shady sites and spotless modern facilities. Staff are legends – friendly, helpful, and great communicators (even if you don't parlez français). Easy walk to beaches and towns. Just watch out for mozzies near the lake, and maybe pack your own snacks as there's no shop on-site. A bit of road noise sometimes, and power's basic.

Liked Very quiet, I guess because the time of year. Clean and tidy toilets and showers, but no toilet paper.
Great location for beaches and shops, as long as you have bikes.

Disliked It did not say on pitchup that reception is shut between 1200 and 1400, you can check in from 0800, we turned up just after 1200 after a long drive and early start.

Liked Peaceful site with considerate fellow users. Great crêpe van comes to site. Good location for walking to the beaches or into town. Very nice staff. Good showers, toilets, level pitches, and washing machines.

Liked Tout le nécessaire est là pour un séjour confortable. Il y a de l'eau chaude et de l'électricité. Nous sommes satisfaits du camping, situé à 10 minutes à pied de la plage. Les gérants sont très aimables et ont répondu à toutes nos demandes. Nous prévoyons de revenir l'été prochain 😊

Local attractions

Beaches, beaches, beaches… with a whole lot to choose from nearby, you can hit a different stretch of sand each day. Plage Miramar (10 minutes' walk) is your nearest, with Plage de l’Argentière and Plage Tamaris (both five minutes' drive) not much further beyond. More? Try Plage du Pellegrin or Plage de l'Estagnol (15 minutes). And, if you're in the market for an all-over tan, there’s a naturist beach at Plage Salins (10 minutes). It’s all about the fine sands and turquoise waters at the beaches – but the coastline in between is pretty lovely too, and best explored with a walk along the nine-kilometre coastal path, which also passes vineyards and craggy cliffs. If you’re not content seeing it from above, you can join a scuba or snorkel trip with the local dive centre (five minutes). Another excellent option is to take a boat trip from Port Miramar (five minutes) to the island of Porquerolles, for bike rides between white-sand beaches, or the wilder Port-Cros, a protected nature reserve with some great hiking trails and coves for snorkelling.
