Seeking a spot between mountains and sea? Hoping for stylish beaches and ancient villages, a dash of art and top nosh, with maybe some walks and shopping thrown in? You must want Camping La Camassade, a fabulous spot in France's Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, 10 minutes’ drive from the town of Tourrettes-sur-Loup. A lot of care has gone into this site, which stands among century-old olive groves and oak trees. The plants give the place colour and scent, attracting insects and birds so you never feel as if you’ve left the Provençal countryside behind. Despite being rooted in its surroundings, this is a comfortable and well-maintained site: the washrooms are bright and spacious, and heated in the winter; there’s a swimming pool and paddling pool to cool off in at the end of a long day, and table football and table tennis are to hand for those with a competitive streak. You won’t go short of supplies thanks to the on-site shop and daily deliveries of fresh bread in the summer. It’s a half-hour hike or a 10-minute drive to Tourrettes-sur-Loup, where there are numerous restaurants, bars and bakeries, as well as small supermarkets.

This peaceful, well-kept park offers a ripper welcome & roomy, shady spots. Guests rave about the modern, spotless loos as a treat. Good pool, small shop, and top staff. Some noted no grey water disposal & tricky access, but it's a ripper spot for its peace & great facilities.

Disliked cold showers (But i was awake really early and it was very hot outside so not a problem) Wifi was not great tbh

Local attractions

Look north to the Alpine foothills and south to the Mediterranean coast and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what's on offer round here. If it’s walks you want, there are easy but rewarding trails around the two waterfalls of Saut de Loup and Courmes, both about 15 minutes' drive away. If you prefer something more strenuous, paths outside Courmes snake 3,000 feet up to the Pic de Courmes for fab views across the whole region, and a celebrated via ferrata climbing route is at Caille, 50 minutes away. For seaside stuff, it’s half an hour to Cagnes-sur-Mer, and an hour to Nice and Antibes. Along with their upmarket beaches, these towns have a fine spread of museums and galleries as well as markets for wandering and present-buying. On the way to or from Antibes, you might also benefit from a stopoff at the complex of family-friendly attractions: sea lion and dolphin shows at Marineland, slides and chutes and flumes at Aquasplash and fairground rides at Antibesland, all about 50 minutes from the site, ensure every member of the party has something to smile about. To see more of inner Provence, and smell it, get over to Grasse (half an hour) for the perfume museum, perfume shops and legendary lavender fields nearby. If you need more souvenirs of your stay, the pretty villages of Biot and Vallauris are famed for their glass and pottery respectively; both are within 50 minutes.
