It's free, quick and easy!
- Lakeside park in the Verdon Natural Regional Park
- Direct access to lots of watersports and outdoor pursuits
- Pool, bar, restaurant, shop, playground, games room and pétanque
Frankly, direct access to the hiking trails through the Gorges du Verdon would be topping enough. But you'll need quite a bit more time for an active stay at Camping La Farigoulette, for its Verdon Natural Regional Park setting is also right on the edge of Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon lake, with direct access to watersports galore such as canoeing, kayaking, tubing, whitewater rafting and swimming.
Set near the commune of Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, lakeside La Farigoulette is a big and family-friendly park close to enough outdoor activities to keep you occupied for weeks, before starting in on the other attractions nearby such as dozens of prehistoric sites, Provençal towns and villages, the lavender fields of Valensole and – essential – fully investigating the local cuisine and wine.
Among all this, settle down on site for lazy days among the well-kept facilities: there's a heated outdoor pool and sunbathing area; a games room and a TV room; a playground, and courts for tennis and pétanque. A bar, restaurant, takeaway and mini market are also to hand for more cuisine and wine.
Amenities include accessible showers and toilets, a bath, a launderette, a drying room and internet access. And to fully investigate the local land without too much effort, electric bikes are available for hire from the site team.

Local attractions
This is heavenly land for hiking: among the many local trails is a path that runs through Camping La Farigoulette on a 23-kilometre run crossing the peaks of the Gorges du Verdon up to 700 metres above sea level. The gorge's waterways can also be explored by by boat, kayak or pedalo from the shores of Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon lake.
If you're here for the history, around 60 prehistoric sites are around to visit among the caves and limestone of the Verdon region: potter around the story of it all at the Gorges du Verdon Museum of Prehistory, less than 10 kilometres away at the town of Quinson.
For trips a bit further afield, there are the lavender fields of Valensole and the town of Barjols (famed for its fountains and waterfalls), or the towns of Aups and Salernes, all less than 30 kilometres from the site.
You could also take a day trip out to Aix-en-Provence, 85 kilometres south-west, to wander through its historical quarter and see the town's architecture, museums, boutiques and cafés.
