Calling upon the historic city of Le Mans for your next getaway? The city’s only a 15-minute drive away from Camping Onlycamp Le Pont Romain in Yvré-l’Evêque, so this is a hassle-free spot to base yourself indeed… Comfortable, too, with trees around the site creating patches of shade and sun and no noise permitted after 10pm. Set over one and a half hectares, there are a batch of gorgeous facilities, including a small snack bar, a pétanque court, a games room, a playground, barbecues for rent and a laundry area. When it’s relaxation time, guests gather at the heated outdoor swimming pool (open between June and September). There’s also no need to leave in search of fresh bread or croissants, with both products available to order every morning during high season. Back to that gorgeous location, though. Camping Onlycamp Le Pont Romain is a 15-minute drive away from the city centre and the city’s famous motorsports race course, Le Mans and its Circuit 24 Hours of Le Mans, which has simulator rides and go-karting for beginners. Heritage and cultural events often take place in the city centre. And what of shops and restaurants for when those hunger pangs hit? There are a bunch of restaurants in Yvré-l'Évêque within 15 minutes’ walk of the site, along with a supermarket and shops. Convenient, indeed.

A ripper of a campsite – clean, quiet & friendly with heaps of space. Great facilities, a top playground & a sweet pool. Handy for the village and Le Mans. Wi-Fi can be patchy, and some found no toilet seats. Gate locked after 10pm for one bloke. Still, a top spot for a stopover or a longer break.

Liked Beautiful location for a campsite. Castle and river all can be seen from the pool. Great restaurant and fresh crossiants in the morning however staff weren't the friendless. Top tip need long electric cables for hook ups. Would definitely stay here again.

Liked Es gab einen Stand für Essen und Trinken. Es gab einen Aufenthaltsraum für Spiele, da sitzen oder zum Lesen.

Disliked WLAN gab es nur im Bereich der Rezeption. Der Pool war so klein, dass man nicht schwimmen könnte oder die vielen Kinder einen vollspritzen.

Liked Fairly easy to get to, local village is really nice. Good welcome, great pool and facilities are well kept and clean. Helpful and friendly staff who actually made us feel welcome. Great for a couple of days stopover either going south or heading home. Snack bar on site looked and smelt great, but we didn’t use it as we had supplies. However, I would recommend taking up the offer of bread and pastries for breakfast. Yes, a bit pricey, but great quality and taste.

Disliked Booked via Pitchup with usual filter set for a twin axle caravan. Conformation came through stating no twins. Phoned the site direct and assured that we would be fine. Arrived and felt that I was close to being sent away. Thankfully, a pretty reasonable space was found for us which saved the situation. Thanks totally to the site staff, Pitchup, sort it out.

Liked Lovely big pitches with good hedges around them. Shop is amazing, great selection of food and drinks. There is a small pool on site, we never got around to it as we only stayed for one night. Toilets and bathrooms are great, good hot water.

Le branchement électrique : nous comprenons parfaitement votre mécontentement. Il n’est évidemment pas autorisé de débrancher un autre campeur, et nous allons renforcer la vigilance et la communication à ce sujet.

La fermeture du Snack à 21h : cet horaire est prévu à la fois pour garantir la tranquillité du camping en soirée, mais aussi pour respecter les horaires de travail de notre équipe. Merci de votre compréhension sur ce sujet.

Le food truck : il s’agit d’un prestataire extérieur, indépendant du camping. Nous n’avons malheureusement pas la possibilité de gérer les détails de leur service, mais nous leur transmettrons votre retour concernant l’absence de boissons, afin de voir avec eux si nous pouvons pas faire quelque chose sur ce sujet et améliorer le service.

Liked Friendliness of staff, very clean facilities and pitches were plenty big enough as well as quirky, no pitch is the same! We didn’t use the pool but looked clean and welcoming. Snack bar on site and also a games room near the play park. We had a resident Robin that visited a good few times a day and lots of other wildlife to see. Highly recommend!

Local attractions

The lovely Le Mans will keep you very occupied. Begin at the Museum of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (10 minutes’ drive), a huge part of the city’s history. There’s a number of historic sites that you’ll likely want to tick off one by one, too… The Royal Abbey of Epau (10 minutes), a former Cistercian abbey, is one. Another is the spectacular Cathedral of Saint Julian of Le Mans (15 minutes), which is both Romanesque and Gothic in style. Historic spots under your belt, you might fancy a light-hearted afternoon on the rides at the local amusement park, Papéa Parc (10 minutes) or on one of the steeds at a horse-riding centre (10 minutes). The zoo Domaine de Pescheray (20 minutes) will be another treat for those who like their different animals. And what about a peaceful day canoeing, biking or strolling aimlessly?
