- Peaceful lakeside site near Ladignac-le-Long
- On the Route de la Pomme orchard trail
- Fishing, canoeing and pedalo rides on the lake next door
Pitch up here at the gateway to the Perigord-Limousin Natural Regional Park: it’s pretty, pristine, well-kept and well-placed for visits to medieval settlements like Coussac-Bonneval and Ségur-le-Château as well as the famed porcelain studios of Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, and outdoorsy activities like horse riding, fishing and hiking are all popular pursuits around the immediate and highly viewsome vicinity.
Set splendidly overlooking the banks of a 10-hectare lake, Camping Bel Air is lush and leafy holiday park just outside the little village of Ladignac-le-Long and its handsome 12th-century Romanesque church; the site’s vibe is friendly and its facilities fab for families, and pedalo rides, first-category angling and an adventure playground with swings and stuff to clamber on are available at the big lake right next door.
Leisure facilities for active times include tennis, pétanque and a games room with a ping pong table, a chess board and other games to keep big and little brains occupied, or you can instead opt to lounge around on site for lazy spells scoffing pitchside picnics, all compiled using supplies sourced at an on-site mini mart that sells locally produced fare, freshly baked baguettes and other tasty/handy essentials.

Local attractions
Seeing as you’re a mere 20 minutes' walk from the local village of Ladignac-le-Long, perhaps this should be your first place to explore; here you’ll come across craft centres, a 12th-century Romanesque church and a five-kilometre nature trail, giving you plenty to peruse on your first day in this verdant and peaceful vicinity.
As the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route crosses the Limousin region, expect to see lots of medieval fortresses and Romanesque churches with spectacular stained glass windows along its course. If old buildings aren’t particularly your thing, instead traipse the Route de la Pomme to visit the orchards of enthused and dedicated apple farmers, who oft offer tours to explain the process and peculiarities of the Limousin’s pomiculture industry.
No matter where your adrenaline tolerance levels are at, you can get stuck into all sorts of outdoorsy stuff a quick and simple drive away at Espace Hermeline waterside leisure park in the Périgord Limousin Regional Natural Park. Tramp along adventure trails around the forest, or instead zipline through it, fling yourself skywards with a try of bungee ejection, or take it easy instead and pootle around the park’s small train or vélorail. Other lower-octane activities include miniature golf, tennis and fishing or – for sedentary sorts – lazing at the lake beach.
