- Stunning estate around a castle near the Dordogne gorges
- Fishing pond, pool, animals to meet and spectacular restaurant
- Boat building, theatre, design workshops and loads more on offer
You will, quite rightly, feel like royalty here. Domaine de Mialaret is spectacularly set among a 19th-century castle and ancient 44-hectare estate near the Dordogne gorges, in a green wildlife haven among lakes and rivers, horse rides and hiking, châteaux and mountains.
If you seek to set off on your own adventuring, there are fishing ponds to paddle in or cast off for trout at; tennis, football, table tennis and pétanque to try out, and a pool set deep among greenery with handsome sun loungers at your disposal beside the water. Seeking an even more serene time? Take the smalls to meet the castle's animals including horses, ponies, sheep, pigs and – newly arrived in 2017 – the estate's first miniature donkeys.
Those who prefer marching to the beat of an organised drum can leap into the activities arranged here for big and small, including a kids' club with loads of activities to try; theatre productions for dramatic times; music nights; laser games; barbecues and concerts, and even – yes very much please – boat building sessions for sailor wannabes who yearn to craft their own vessels. Graphic design workshops, bushcraft excursions, horse riding sessions and loads more are on offer too: check out the packed activities programme when you arrive.
An absolute must at this well-appointed site is the restaurant – again, see pics – which serves up meals and takeaway in this French castle locale. The reception building has a small shop and you can order bread, pastries and other essentials to collect the next morning.

Local attractions
Set out on foot, hire an electric bike at reception or arrange mountain bike hire from the team to tackle the many hiking and biking trails starting directly from the estate to cover varying lengths and experience levels: Le Domaine de Mialaret is near the Gorges de la Dordogne and Triouzoune lake, so you'll def find scenic spots aplenty whichever direction you head in.
Local town Neuvic is reachable by bike if you want to have a stroll around its shops and restaurants; more actively, a horse riding centre is here for booking hacks through the Dordogne countryside, and there are two nine-hole golf courses for teeing off at.
Other well-known attractions in the area include the Gorges de la Dordogne (10 minutes' drive), the Maréges dam (also 10 minutes), the Rochers Noirs viaduct (30 minutes), Bort-les-Orgues (35 minutes), the Château de Val (45 minutes) and the Monédières mountains, just over an hour away.
