Local attractions
Although seen primarily as a seaside resort, Valras-Plage is also a town which enjoys living well and where residents and tourists can find traditional charm and quality of life at an advantageous price.
Situated in the heart of town, the Marty shopping market, renovated in 2002, truly does lie at the centre of the traditional commercial life of the town. Situated on Rue Charles Thomas, you can find fruits, vegetables, pastries, and, of course, fish sold directly by fishermen: sardines, mackerel, sea bream and more. The market, numbering 22 stalls, offers customers fresh, quality products in a friendly atmosphere valued by its faithful clientèle and visitors.
Fishing is central to the identity of Valras-Plage and even if the professional fishermen are not as numerous as they once were, villagers are regaining the pleasure for this traditional activity, notably among the younger residents.
The leisure port is a truly lively area. Its uniqueness lies in the closeness between the leisure owners, fishermen, and service providers (jet ski and sea trip organisers, ferrymen, and boat hirers), sporting associations and organisations who mix together and get on together, mixing tradition with modernity.
