Local attractions
Cave de Saint -Chinian
On fertile, sun-drenched land you will find one of the most beautiful wine cellars in the Languedoc.
The Cave de Saint-Chinian invites you to discover a terroir with a thousand fragrances. Here you will be warmly welcomed by the wine growers who pool their expertise to produce wine which are renowned throughout the world.
An essential visit that will delight your senses.
Lac du Salagou
In the heart of the Haut Pays d'Oc, the lac du Salagou is an inland fresh water lake with waves that murmur as they are buffeted by the wind.
The largest part of its area is situated in the commune of Clermont l'Hérault
The contours of its banks, the basalt rock scenery, “les ruffes” (red schist rock) and the iridescent reflections in its waters all work together to create a unique and wild beauty.
The curious walker will discover a fauna and flora of an incredible diversity, with colours that change with the seasons.
The imposing 530 m high mass of majestic Mont de Laiusson, with its steep oak tree covered slopes, is reflected in this superb stretch of water, one of the most unusual in France, a real delight for the eye and the spirit.
Around the lake, there are many leisure and reception facilities which make it a lively tourist destination. Here you will find: Beaches, campsites, campotels, inns, outdoor centres, watersports and fishing all contribute to the unquestionable attractions of the area.
Canoe
In the Languedoc region, 25 min from MONTPELLIER, at the foot of the CEVENNES Mountains.
We offer a canoeing trip along a 12 km stretch of the Hérault River. This route is very wild and unspoiled as from start to finish there are no roads or villages; no carrying your canoe either and no dams to cross.
The river water is always high thanks to its tributaries la Vis and l’Arre which are fed by water from the Cévennes Mountains and the Larzac plateau.
The rapids are easy and accessible to all, including children who can swim accompanied by their parents, for 6 yrs olds and over for the classic descent and for 4 yr olds and over for the trip around the cliffs (in calm water).
The water is of excellent quality (inspected by the local health authority) and its temperature is higher than that of the sea (26° in summer).
