It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site scattered with eucalyptus and mimosa trees
- A 10-minute drive to Calvi beach; 15 minutes to the GR20 hiking trail
- Pool, shop, bakery, bar, snack bar, tennis, TV room and play area
Sandwich yourself between the sea and the mountains while having a cracking Corsican hol at Camping Paradella, a family-friendly park 10 minutes’ drive from Calvi beach on the island’s north-western side.
Splash in the Mediterranean shores or save your energy for a few laps of the pool back on base; the site has tennis courts too for when you fancy stomping about with a racket in hand.
Had too much sun? Find shade under the eucalyptus, pine and mimosa trees scattered all around the grounds or stroll to the snack bar for light bites on the terrace. There’s a bakery at the park as well, so pick up some fresh goods for the mornings.
If you start to feel a little antsy with all this slow living, Calvi is the place to organise adventures. Play a game of miniature golf, go scuba diving or rent a jetski, boat, quad bike, bike, scooter or car and explore the surrounding Balagne region.
There are postcardworthy villages, the forest of Bonifatu (20 minutes’ drive) and the Le Fango waterfall (25 minutes) to check out, plus it’s also the northern start of the famed GR20, a long-distance path described by prominent travel writer Paddy Dillon as “one of the top trails in the world".

Local attractions
While exploring the Balagne region should keep you busy for a week or longer, Corsica’s compact enough to see much more of. It’s an isle full of tall cliffs, deep gorges and rocky pinnacles, so it’s a scenic place for hiking expeditions.
Up for a challenge? Join the 180-kilometre GR20 trail running to the south from 14 minutes’ drive away. If you’d rather be on the water, make haste for Calvi (10 minutes’ drive) and take a boat trip around the off-shore Calanques de Piana nature reserve, a series of jagged rock formations along the coast.
Once you’re back on dry land, poke around Calvi’s medieval citadel and baroque-style St-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral, which look out over the marina from the western side of the bay, then wander along the Quai Landry esplanade in search of a seafront restaurant. To walk off the calories afterwards, hike up to the Notre-Dame de la Serra chapel and admire the views over the coast as you catch your breath.
The nightlife in town also means there’s a bit of a buzz to Calvi, so make sure to descend in time for sunset drinks.
