  • Pools, miniature golf, buggy rides, archery and quad biking
Loire valley rentals, Loire valley lushness... and lots of Loire valley stuff to get stuck into both on and off site (including visits to world-famed châteaux, natch). Settle here for a summer stay in the Loire valley, on a Loir-et-Cher holiday home park in a lakeside setting, 10 minutes' drive from Chaumont, 25 from Amboise and 40 from Chambord (all with world-famed châteaux, natch). Species of the furred and winged sort live and flit around the lake if your tastes tend towards nature spotting and wildlife watching; if you crave getting into or onto the water instead, you can plunge in for dips, take out a pedalo, or bike a short distance to hire a canoe for lazy trips along the Loire river – ask the staff where best to pick up a paddle in the region. Loire Valley Rentals is a big site with big facilities: there are outdoor and indoor pools as well as the lake to cool off in; a sports area, miniature golf, table tennis, tennis and pétanque for getting active, and a packed programme in the kids' and teens' clubs for all ages of offspring. And then there are the buggy rides, the archery, the quad biking, the free evening shows and entertainment... although you're in excellent locale for exploring, you don't have to leave the park for leisure options aplenty. Or for eats... among your many food and drink picks here are a restaurant, takeaway service, shop and bar. If you do decide to venture out, it's under 10 minutes' drive from the park to local village Onzain.

Local attractions

Famed châteaux of the Loire valley are within easy reach for day trips, several placed in towns and cities that are well worth a wander around afterwards too. If you're off to the château at Amboise (you should, for tis fab), make your castle sightseeing day a Friday or Sunday so you can also visit the busy and popular Amboise market. Then perhaps plan to come back another day to see the Maison du Clos Lucé, where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last three years of his life, before a potter along the pretty banks of the Loire just outside town, or a look at the royal gardens of the Domaine Royal de Château Gaillard. For a family days, ZooParc Beauval is just under 50 minutes' drive to the south.
