Combine a) this fine ambition + b) city sightseeing with a stay at Camping Onlycamp La Gâtine, only a five-minute walk from the city centre of Bléré. Activities are easily sorted from here too – well, you'll need to exercise off all that vino – as La Gâtine is next to a sports centre with a heated swimming pool, tennis courts, mini golf, playgrounds and sailing courses. An equestrian centre and a leisure centre for sailing, canoeing and waterskiing are also within walking distance. On site, Camping Onlycamp La Gâtine's facilities include free wifi throughout, a games room with TV, a washing machine and tumble dryer, and three modern amenities blocks. The site is disabled-friendly.

Great spot with roomy, flat sites, near a river & town. Staff are helpful, especially with late arrivals. Facilities are usually clean, but some found loos & sinks could be better. A few noted noise & lack of supervision, but most reckon it's a top stopover and want to come back.

Liked Flat pitches, main toilet block was nice and clean albeit unisex with a washing machine in it. You WILL need to take your own toilet roll.

5 minute walk into town.

Located right next to the excellent tarmac'd cycle paths, 10 miles to Amboise mostly through vinyards and forest. Beautiful scenery. DON'T use google maps to navigate by cycle, you'll get into all sorts of trouble.

Disliked Second toilet block was awful, semi-open air, no toilet seats and spiders/webs everywhere, it was like being on the set of Indiana Jones! Only one of the showers had a light so showering after dark is not a great experience. Pitches very open and close together.

Liked Close to town centre with good sized pitches for our VW campervan. The staff are friendly and helpful on reception and the shower block is clean. The water wasn’t always that warm in the showers, but it was okay as it was so hot when we were there.

Liked Location, location, location. Lovely area under trees, so well shaded. The facilities a clean and well looked after, and Blere itself is a great place to visit. The walks along the river a lovely as well, and easily accessable from the campsite.

From Paris (230km): Take the A10 towards Bordeaux, then take Exit 18 to Amboise. At Amboise (13km), follow the signs for Bléré (16km). Look out for our signposts. From Tours (25km) and Bordeaux (360km): Take the A10 towards Paris, then take the interchange for the A85 towards Vierzon (just before Tours). Take Exit 11 signposted Bléré and continue for 7km.
