  • Large family site near Carnac megalithic site and prehistory museum
  • About half an hour’s drive from La Trinité-sur-Mer
  • Outdoor pool, solarium, fishing, bike hire, bar and bowling alley
Islands and nature reserves, coastal paths and harbour towns, megalithic sites and caves: all this and more are around this big family park in the Golfe du Morbihan Natural Regional Park, for sightseeing and outdoor activities galore. Camping Le Diben is a handy 400 metres from the beach and overlooks the little uninhabited island of Gavrinis: take a boat from the site’s local harbour at Larmor-Baden about 20 minutes’ walk away, to venture over and see the island’s spectacular megalithic tomb, or to several more of the gulf’s fab little isles. Back on your three-hectare site, the facilities are more than ample for lots of leisure time: there’s an outdoor pool with a solarium for plenty of poolside sprawling, and a bar open from 8am to 11pm to keep you topped up with tipples. The playground has plenty of play equipment and a trampoline, while the games room has a bowling alley and a ping pong table for a spot of gentle competition. Le Diben has a food truck serving takeaway throughout the day; you can also pick up freshly baked baguettes and viennoiseries every morning from 8am during July and August.

Local attractions

The site is within easy reach of the world-famed megalithic site and prehistory museum at Carnac. When you’re done at the museum, pick up a snack at one of the town’s famed Saint-Georges and Chez Marie crêperies; if you’re there during the summer, there’ll likely be some sort of festival to wander around too. Helicopter and boat tours around more of the gulf and its isles depart close by: hit up the harbour at Larmor-Baden for trips out to the island of Berder, where there are a couple of spectacular and relatively short walks punctuated by sandy coves for swimming and canoeing expeditions. From Berder, continue on out to the islands of Arz and Moines or take a boat trip around the gulf. The harbour town of La Trinité-sur-Mer – famed for its marina, its sailing heritage and its regular regattas – is around half an hour’s drive away, and the towns of Auray and Vannes are both within easy reach of Carnac.
