It's free, quick and easy!
- Quiet Bénodet site five minutes’ walk from sandy Brittany beaches
- A 20-minute drive from Pont-l’Abée and 25 minutes from Quimper
- Heated pool, hot tub, hammam, miniature golf, bar and snack bar
Would you go to the ends of the earth for hols full of spas, sea and sand? There’s no need… just make your way to Camping du Trez, a family-friendly site on the outskirts of Finistère seaside resort Bénodet and 25 minutes’ drive from Quimper.
The main beach of Bénodet is an easy five-minute walk from base, placing sandy strolls and days splashing about within tantalisingly easy reach. It’s hard not to find peace on a beach, but if the waves failed to wash all stress away that’s an easy fix: the town’s known as a thalassotherapy centre, and there’s a spa five minutes’ walk away.
Days spent seeking bliss are handily continued at the site too, with a hot tub, hammam and sauna for unwinding and a heated pool to lounge next to (or dive into). Busier days are a cinch too – kids can get energy out in the playground or on the bouncy castle, while the whole family should get a kick out of tennis or volleyball. Encourage competitive natures by signing up for weekly pétanque tournaments or just play around on the miniature golf course instead.
If weather isn’t cooperating, retreat to the electronic games room to keep minds occupied, or camp out in BénoBar for drinks and evening entertainment. Feeling peckish? Pick up some fresh bread or pastries first thing, then keep stomachs full throughout the day with breakfast, lunch and (themed) dinner at the snack bar.

Local attractions
The first few days of any hol hereabouts will probably be spent at the beach, so take advantage of proximity to also explore Bénodet. The town is at the mouth of the Odet river, which is navigable as far as Quimper if hiring a kayak or canoe appeals; otherwise explore the museums or catch the ferry out to the Glénan islands.
The Glénans are an absolute must during stays in this part of Finistère, so don’t miss that crossing. The islands are known as the Breton Tahiti and yes, they’re exactly as spectacular as that makes them sound, with white sandy beaches, lots of sailing and diving, and pretty indigenous flowers.
Back on the mainland, there are lots more towns and cities to wander around, starting with the scenic Pont-l’Abée (20 minutes' drive) and its château, museums and botanical gardens, and moving on to Quimper (25 minutes) where there’s a castle, gardens, a cathedral, museums, breweries, distilleries and lots of pottery.
Travel the roughly 30 minutes to the ports of Saint-Guénolé, Guilvinec, Lesconil and Loctudy to snap up some fresh fish at auction, or finally turn backs on the sea to hike around Armorique Natural Regional Park (35 minutes) and climb Monts d’Arrée.
