Tiddly-om-pom-pom around Bergerac's Camping Le Pomport Beach, a splendidly scenic site in the Landes Forest, surrounded by a three-hectare lake for swimming, fishing and canoeing.
Vineyards are all around this region too – more tiddly-om-pom-pomming there, we think – and the purple Périgord is filled with old abbeys, medieval villages, strikingly scenic landscapes and a whole heap of active options for busy days out.
As well as the lake, Le Pomport Beach has a pool, paddling pool and waterslides to splash around at, and sports facilities including bowling, table tennis, tennis courts, volleyball and a mini golf course. The well-equipped playground on site is a hit with all smalls who see it – you might not spot yours again for hours...
Another excellent addition is the highly handsome bar, open all season, serving bread, pastries and takeaways and with an outdoor area facing the lake – trust us, it's all spiffingly scenic.

The beautiful beautiful Périgord... you could wander it for months, whether that's around its ancient sites, caves and castles, or among its available activities like hiking, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking in the superb Landes Forest. (Et le cuisine is pretty special in these here parts too.)
Bergerac is 14 kilometres away, one of the many places in the region known for its wine and also visited for its three museums (including one on tobacco), the church of Notre Dame and the wine house by the river. A couple of statues of Cyrano de Bergerac are in town too: see if you can nose them out...
The sixteenth century Château de Monbazillac is about ten kilometres away; other top picks in the area are the Château de Biron (52 km), the Proumeyssac gulf (60 km), the villages of Belvès (70 km) and Roque Gageac (79 km), Sarlat (83 km), the famed paintings of Lascaux Caves (93 km) and the painted chamber of prehistoric Villars Cave (109 km).
