If you look for a combination of spectacular nature and adventure on your camping holidays, this could be the right place for you. In a magical alpine setting surrounded by meadows, orchards and forests, family-run Rafting Camp Palfau is located in Landl’s Gesäuse National Park and is the springboard to rafting and canyoning adventures on the Salzatal river as well as hiking and cycling in the mountains. The pitches are scattered across various tree-shaded terrains – out of high season you can pick your own spot – all with a sunny location and mountain views. Facilities across the campsite include a communal firepit, electric hook-ups and water, as well as wifi in the public areas. Drinks, coffee and ice cream are available 24/7 on a self-serve basis, and a small essentials store is within a few minutes’ walk, along with a wooden, chalet-style restaurant that serves hot food until 8pm. On summer evenings, film screenings are held at the site.

Awesome valley views, chill natural vibe for families & outdoor types. Staff are legends, facilities spotless. Cool 24/7 self-serve bar is a ripper. Whitewater rafting's a hit. A few folks want more power/toilets, but it's a cracker spot, loads wanna come back.

Liked Easy booking, easy access and a great location!!
The facilities were excellent. Everything you need. We camped in our tent and really appreciated having the full bathrooms/showers, as well as an area to clean our dishes.

Disliked Brak placu zabaw dla dzieci. Dużo by dał by wieczorem dzieci jeszcze się pokręciły, zjeżdżały z zjeżdżalni.

Liked Absolutely nice place with awesome views, services and nice peoples. This place is a full of positive energy ane fun around from early morning to the night - despite that the nights are calm and quiet for both individuals or families. Even we cannot enjoy the fun on raft due to our tight schedule, we were really happy there and we really like this place. What we can also highlight is a 24/7 available tiny "store" service for drinks & coffee what's make the stay here a bit more easy.

Rafting Camp Palfau is an ideal starting point for whitewater tours on the Salzatal river nearby – you can book rafting and canyoning tours directly on site as well as hire all the gear you need. Walking excursions can be organised too, including testing hikes past cliffside waterfalls in the awe-inspiring Palfauer Wasserlochklamm gorge (five minutes’ drive). The UNESCO-listed Nature and Geopark Styrian Eisenwurzen (25 minutes) is another fantastic spot for adrenaline-inducing whitewater rafting as well as exploring deep inside subterranean limestone complexes like Kraus Cave (10 minutes). Thankfully, the geopark is also home of gentler pursuits: Mendlingtal Adventure World (five minutes’ drive) highlights the region’s forest heritage with tours of an historic forgeman’s house, grain mill and a bakery. See how wood was once transported down the river at the Austrian Forest Museum Silvanum (15 minutes), where there are also sledge and raft rides to keep the kids entertained, or you can tire them out further with high-ropes courses and archery lessons.
