The clue as to the location of this Carinthia site is very much in the name here – EuroParcs Worthersee is about 500 metres from the shore of the gorgeous Wörthersee, with views out over the bright blue waters from various spots around the park. Not content with looking from afar? That's understandable – and easily fixable, as the park has its own access to the lake, for swims, launching your canoes or just sunbathing on the jetty. There may be mountain scenery all around but the waters here are usually pleasantly warm in summer – the sunny location means they warm up to a temperature of around 25 degrees in high season. Elsewhere around the lake, there are places to hire watersports kit, go for walks by the water or up into the mountains and some viewing platforms where you’ll get impressive views in reward for your climb. The location is also a handy one for visits to Villach and Klagenfurt (both within a half-hour drive), with your nearest town being Schiefling am See, a handy five minutes away and home to several shops, restaurants and services like banks. You don't have to head out to eat, though – there’s a restaurant on site serving up good breakfasts and traditional Carinthian dinners (alongside a vegetarian and vegan menu to cater for all guests). There’s fresh bread for sale every morning at the store, along with a sandwich service (order a day ahead and they’ll be ready for you to pick up from reception and take out for your picnics/hikes).

Stupendo l'accesso privato al lago con lettini e ombrelloni e due pontili da cui tuffarsi. Accoglienza perfetta nella mia lingua e cortesia nelle spiegazioni. Ottime le brioche per la colazione.

Liked: Wir haben eine Änderung kurz vor antritt unserer reise (3h vor dem einchecken) gehabt und alles hat problemlos geklappt. Man muss dazu sagen das es mitten in der Ferienzeit war. Es war ein downgrade und ein tag Verlängerung auf dem Campingplatz. Rechnung wurde angepasst und auch auf dem Platz gab es keine Probleme.

Disliked: Wir haben zuerst einen komfortplatz gebucht mit stromanschluß. Allerdings war dieser platz nicht verfügbar, konnte aber gebucht werden. Wir haben diesen zwar nicht dringend gebraucht, aber wenn dies jemand für wichtig empfunden hätte, wäre es für den schlecht gewesen.

Disliked: Seezugang nur über einen etwas steileren Waldweg erreichbar - queren der viel befahrenen See-Straße, viel zu wenig Liegemöglichkeiten am See - besser gesagt kein Platz für so viele Gäste!!! Mit 53€/Nacht + Kurtaxe viel zu überteuert! Brötchen waren aufgebacken und nicht frisch!

Liked: Dużo jeździmy kamperem i przerobiliśmy już bardzo dużo kempingów. Muszę przyznać że toalety utrzymane w czystości i osobne prysznice z przedsionkami to wielki plus. Blisko jest również do jeziora które widać z kempingu. Przemiła obsługa. Przyjechaliśmy w nocy gdzie recepcja była już nieczynna ale znaleźliśmy swoją parcelę i rano dokonaliśmy formalności.

Disliked: Szkoda że parcelę nie są odgradzane choćby roślinnością

Local attractions

There are lots of spots around the lake where you can get great views – but one of the best is surely that from the top of Pyramidenkogel, the world’s tallest wooden observation tower at 100 metres high. You can walk there in a couple of hours from the park, or drive in about 15 minutes. After you’ve soaked up the views from the top, come back down to earth on the 120-metre slide. Other spots to visit around the lake include the medieval Hochosterwitz Castle (40 minutes’ drive) and Landskron Castle (25 minutes), which has bird of prey shows and a troop of monkeys to meet. Walks through Zauberwald am Rauschelesee (15 minutes) are often popular with families, with hidden magical surprises to find behind the trees. As for urban days out, you may like to take a wander through the colourful streets of Villach (20 minutes) or head over to Klagenfurt (half an hour), which has a reptile zoo, a planetarium and the excellent Minimundus attraction as well as historic castles, churches and courtyards to wander through.
