- Peaceful 17-acre bushland park on the banks of the Goulburn river
- Echuca 20 mins' drive; access to walks in Murray Valley National Park
- Swimming pool, river beach, tennis court and fishing on site
‘A little piece of paradise' is how the owners of this site describe their place – and a quick look at a few of the pics should give you a good hint as to why. It’s the aerial shots in particular that will show you what's special about this peaceful oasis, because River Bend Caravan Park is set on 17 acres of verdant Victoria countryside, with national park bushland all around and the Goulburn river on three sides.
You'll probably feel like you’re well away from modern life when staying here – it's a place where you can go bushwalking, play a sociable game of tennis, fish from the riverbank or take a refreshing dip in the in-ground pool. You can also slow things down completely and simply settle in for a snooze or an afternoon of reading in the shade of mature trees.
In general, this place is all about chilling out and soaking up the truly rural atmosphere – perhaps cooking dinner over a barbecue or cuddling up by a campfire after dark. There is, however, a wifi connection available for those who need to keep in touch with the outside world.
Speaking of the outside world, it’s mostly all about the rural activities – walking, fishing, canoeing and wildlife spotting – but there is a good bar (with food) at Cape Horn Vineyard, 10 minutes' drive away. Echuca (20 minutes' drive) is the nearest town of a decent size – it’s got supermarkets, cafés, sports facilities and hotel bars with live music.

Local attractions
A little something local to go with your dinner back at the park? Sample products from the Cellar Door at Cape Horn Vineyard (10 minutes' drive) and pick something up for later; you can also dine here on wood-fired pizzas or cheese platters, and play outdoor games.
There are several more wineries around Echuca (20 minutes), while beer lovers (and fans of unusual museums) should head to The Great Aussie Beer Shed & Heritage Farm Museum, just south of the town, to see an eclectic collection of domestic and brewing items, including thousand of beer cans from around the world.
Working up a thirst for your drink of choice shouldn't be too hard – there are numerous walks to be done close by in the likes of Murray Valley National Park and Barmah National Park, games of golf at Rich River Golf Club (20 minutes) and all sorts of family activities (mini golf, archery and horse riding among them) at Billabong Ranch (20 minutes). Kyabram Fauna Park (35 minutes) is a good place to spot wildlife, and Cactus Country (an hour) for exotic plants.
