Whether you’re relaxing on the waterfront, watching out for the birds and koalas or taking a kayak cruise on the water, unwinding is easy at Koala Shores Holiday Park. This family-friendly waterfront holiday spot in Lemon Tree Passage, Port Stephens has a splendid bushland setting that features wildlife such as birds and koalas (if you’re lucky)… so take a scenic walk, embrace the peaceful setting and keep your eyes open. Just half an hour’s drive from Tomaree National Park and 40 minutes from Fingal beach, there are many opportunities to get involved with outdoor activities nearby… but there’s plenty of that on the holiday park too, including fishing, kayaking, pedalos, large bouncing cushions, pedalos, beach volleyball, miniature golf and perhaps the highlight of it all, a spectacular resort-style saltwater outdoor swimming pool. When you’re ready to track down the local spots, hire a bike from Koala Shores and pedal for 10 minutes to gorgeous Lemon Tree Passage for restaurants, shops and more of the waterfront or set your sights on the free-entry, nine-hectare reserve at Tilligerry Habitat (10 minutes’) next to Tanilba Bay, where native birds and bush tucker plants reside in season and there are bites of local history and culture. Often referred to as a birdwatchers’ paradise, the bushland setting at this holiday park means binoculars will come in handy. The place has a community-like feel and accommodates dogs, good news for any canine owners too.

Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.

Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the campground while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Liked: not really because what I played for was not what I got I feel that $118 was ripped off from me according to my booking. otherwise stay was good.

Disliked: I booked the $830 2 nights cabin with 1 room with one double bed and room 2 was one double bed + one single bed but when I went there I got in bed room 2 bunk bed n one single bed I had my mother with me who is 73yr old how can she climb on the bunk bed when I asked in the front desk lady told me that it's pitchup mistake and pitchup should refund my $118 back because I stayed in a cabin that cost only $712 .I feel like it's RIP off. hope I will get my money back. Thanks

Liked: Location is lovely, being right on the water and surrounded by bushland (but not isolated), and the staff were great, very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Disliked: Very noisy and chaotic. 10pm 'quiet time' curfew pretty much ignored. Amenities block is looking very tired and could do with a refresh.

Disliked: Having been charged twice on my credit card for the booking. I paid in full when I made the booking and then received an email a month before my stay saying I would be charged again. I emailed koala shores asking them not to charge me twice and they gave me the run around saying I had to contact pitchup - who then told me I had to deal with koala shores. Bad customer service on that part.

Local attractions

Track down Anna Bay (half an hour’s drive) on the edge of Birubi beach for a stretch of sand that’s home to a surf school and other outdoorsy activities… whether it’s quad biking, sandboarding, surfing or even riding a camel, there are plenty of ways to get stuck in. With gorgeous beaches all around, there’s a wide choice for activities by the sea… a picnic, snorkel, kayaking, rockpooling or whale watching (in high season) from Fishermans Bay Foreshore (half an hour) in Tomaree National Park perhaps? An intimate visit to the marine life in the ocean at Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters (25 minutes)? At Fingal beach (40 minutes), the surfing conditions are pretty sweet. The crescent-shaped bay also allows four-wheel drives for those with a permit or boat launches from the south end. A trip here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Worimi National Park (15 minutes), though. An Aboriginal conservation area, one of the top ways to get active here is by hiking the Stockton Dunes.

Koala Shores Holiday Park cancellation policy

No refunds within 30 days of arrival date.

When you cancel your booking, fees may be charged under the following circumstances, which vary by season:
• Peak season: Cancellations within 30 days of arrival will incur a cancellation fee equal to the total booking value
• Shoulder season: Cancellations within 7 days of arrival will incur a cancellation fee equal to the total booking value
• Low season: Cancellations within 7 days of arrival will incur a cancellation fee equal to the first night’s accommodation/site rate

Any refunds due will be processed to the same payment method which was used to pay for the booking. Please note, all EFT refunds are processed weekly.
Administration Fee: Where a refund is due, a $50 administration fee will be charged.
Credits:
• Credits can only be taken on direct bookings and excludes any bookings via online travel agents (Expedia, Wotif, Booking.com etc.)
• Monies paid against a booking that has been cancelled as per the cancellation terms can be held in credit for a future booking.
• Credits are valid for 12 months from the date a booking was cancelled.
• Credits may be refundable for up to 12 months, if a refund was applicable at time of cancellation. After this point any monies paid are forfeited.
• Credits may be transferred between select Aspen holiday park or resorts.
• Any bookings cancelled due to COVID-19 are valid for 24 months from the cancellation date. If a refund was applicable at time of cancellation, these credits are refundable for up to 24 months and after this point any monies paid are forfeited.
While we do our best to accommodate a preferred site or cabin number, these are not guaranteed.

No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

The campground/park is not liable for any refund in the event of force majeure.

Bookings cannot be amended within 30 day(s) of arrival.

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please give as much notice as possible so that someone else has the chance to book. You may wish to buy holiday insurance for cancellations and for your property/injury whilst away.
