- Golf and spa resort in the mountains 15km from Andorra la Vella
- 40 minutes' drive from the huge Naturlandia theme park
- Restaurant serving a weekly changing seasonal set menu
If you’re partial to a round or two of golf on holiday, pack up your clubs and make a beeline for Xixerella Park, a site for those who like to swing a club around. Up in a wooded valley 15 kilometres from Andorra la Vella, the main attraction is a tree-lined 18-hole pitch and putt course with splendid views over the surrounding forests and mountains.
Use the putting green and practice nets if you’d like to hone your skills before taking to the course. Perhaps you can even take the opportunity to introduce the joys of the game to your kids – the resort organises special golfing activities for them in high season, but don’t be too disappointed if they decide they prefer the option of the site’s miniature golf course instead.
To any golf widows/widowers starting to roll their eyes at all this, despair not. A fab spa beckons, with covered swimming pool, Jacuzzis, sauna, steam shower and Turkish bath, and open 24 hours a day in high season. A playground and table tennis are also on site to amuse the kids.
Reconvene with the family for an evening meal at the site’s restaurant, which offers a set menu with four choices for each course and changes weekly to make the most of what’s in season. Alternatively, you can cook for yourself at the barbecue area, and eat in the open air at the adjacent picnic tables. Pick up food at the site’s mini market, or take a 10-minute drive to the nearest supermarket in Arinsal.

Local attractions
The immediate vicinity is the site is best explored on foot or by bike, to take in the most of the gorgeous mountain and forest views. It's a half-hour riverside walk to the village of Pal, where you can visit the Romanesque Andorra Interpretation Centre – you’ll see a lot of this architectural style around in this area, including the village churches here and in Erts, a 20-minute walk in the other direction.
By car, a 20-minute drive from the site takes you to the Miniature Museum in Ordino, which lives up to its name with a collection of exhibits so tiny you’ll have to view them through microscopes. On a larger scale is the National Automobile Museum in Encamp, also a 20-minute drive, and its collection of around 80 cars, 60 motorbikes and a 19th-century steam engine.
Driving almost the whole length of the country will take you around 40 minutes, and bring you to Naturlandia, a huge adventure park whose attractions include an animal park, ziplining, tubing slope, go-karting and pony rides.
