  • Well-maintained peaceful rural site 10 minutes' drive from Pembroke
  • Within four miles of Barafundle Bay, Bosherston and Freshwater West
  • Distant sea views and simple facilities; campfires welcome
There are some mighty fine spots around Pembrokeshire – and it has to be said that the folk at Cedar Farm Camping have managed to bag themselves one of those prime positions, within easy reach of some of the county’s most splendid coastal scenery. Getting to this peaceful and pretty part of the world involves driving about 10 minutes from Pembroke, leaving the main roads behind and making your way down some quiet country lanes to find a place that’s all about the rural relaxation (don’t worry if you’re not used to country lanes – they’re perfectly easy to navigate, and staff are always on hand to offer guidance if you get lost among all the greenery…) The rural views from this spot on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park are generally pure green, but on a clear day you’ll catch glimpses of the sea in the distance. Whether you’ve been treated to that or not, you’ll certainly want to set out to see the sea more closely – and what spectacular beaches you have to choose from, as Freshwater West, Broad Haven South and the utterly gorgeous Barafundle Bay are all within four miles or so. Given the stunning surrounds, you’ll likely be out and about most of the time – and with that in mind the owners have focused on providing a restful place to chill out rather than stacking up lots of unnecessary bits and bobs. That means simply sorting you out with toilets, showers, a water supply and a waste disposal area, and allowing you to spend evenings stoking a barbecue or campfire.

Liked Lovely site, lovely hosts.. we arrived later than planned but we were greeted and welcomed no different and was able to order last min food for all the family and get a drink at the bar in the barn. Didn’t feel rushed at all.
We didn’t see much of the rest of the site as dark and we had plans the following day too so left site early but would still recommend and would defo return. Thankyou for a lovely ( albeit brief ) stay!

Liked The location was really good able to get around to all the areas we wanted to see, quiet area with good countryside views and views of the stars (clouds permitting) the barn was lovely the pizza are amazing, nice local beers and ciders plus well known brands. Tent spaces were a good size able to have a large tent with wind breaker and space for outdoor seating. Friendly staff on arrival, leaving and in the barn. Clean toilets and showers. Good washing facilities, there is also a small shed that has the communal fridge and freezer plus information books and leaflets for planning days out.

Disliked Not really a dislike however it may have been timing but every time of wanting to use the showers or toilet there was always a queue. The men's only had 1 working shower and a unisex one outside, the ladies had 2 toilets and 2 showers however as 1 was a power shower this was the more used one so always had a queue. As a family campsite the 11pm noise curfew seems a little late as we were unlucky and had noisy neighbours and struggled to get little one to sleep before 10pm the noise did usually stop just after 11pm. Would have gained an extra point if there was a little more play equipment for littles such as a slide/climbing frame

Liked Gem of a campsite and we were thrilled with our stay. Stayed as a family of 4. Hookup brilliant, pitches flat, showers and toilets clean and well maintained. Even a basket of those bits you can easily forget or need in an emergency which was a lovely touch. The kids area was beautiful and ours spent hours out there with us having the peace of mind of knowing it was safe and fenced and in view. The bar onsite looked lovely and if we had stayed longer (as I wish we had as it was by far our nicest site) we would have definetely used it. Huge pitches and well explained to us on check in (pitches extend between two bushes for the hook up sites). There was a communal fridge/freezer free to use with plenty of space and even books and bits which we donated our old reads to as its such a great facility! Think there was an issue with the water temp at the start of our stay but it was fixed after a couple of days and then the showers were lovely and warm with good pressure.

Disliked A temporary water issue at the start of our stay meant there was no hot water but it was quickly fixed. Although the showers were then warm the washing up sinks stayed cold and I wasnt sure if that was a permanent thing or a continuation of the shower issue. Either way it didnt really matter as we just used a pan of hot water from the bathroom and took it round to the washing up sinks to use.

Liked Beautiful location, very friendly.
Bar was fab and loved the cider and pizza! It was so kind of them to put bits out for the children to make a pinhole camera to view the eclipse.
Very close to all the beautiful beaches.

Liked This is a lovely campsite - not too big not too small, in a very pretty rural location with great farmland views. Under 10 mins drive to lots of lovely beaches.

The barn is a fab addition- good draught beer and the option of ordering simple, tasty food was a winner for us.

We stayed with young children and were one of many families on the site so we felt very welcome.

We were there for the eclipse and there was a wonderful friendly atmosphere at the barn with everyone watching together.

Local attractions

Up for a stroll? It’s a good plan as you can set out on paths very close by to explore the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and wend your way down to the coast itself to see the famed Green Bridge. Down at the coast path you could amble between some of the choice spots along the coast, or choose to settle at one or other. Barafundle Bay (10 minutes’ drive) is the big name around here for its frequent appearances on ‘world’s best beach’ lists, but you should also add in a trip to Broad Haven South, walking down past the huge lily ponds at Bosherston (five minutes) along the way. You may well find the surf waves and beach café at Freshwater West (15 minutes) calling your name too… As well as coast, all trips to these parts should include at least one castle – Pembroke (10 minutes) and lakeside Carew (15 minutes) are your top spots nearby. If you’re here with the nippers, drag them further back in time at the Dinosaur Park (20 minutes).
