  • Small family-run Pembrokeshire site with dog-friendly grassy pitches
  • A 35-minute walk from Saundersfoot and a five-minute drive to Tenby
  • Barbecues welcome; farm shop within five minutes' walk
Gold-sand coves, limestone stacks and fishing harboursā€¦ get your Pembrokeshire fix at Crane Cross Camping Park. Based just 35 minutesā€™ walk from Saundersfoot, where the sandy cove has shallow bathing water, this small family-run site has a splendid location alright. Tenby, a popular Pembrokeshire seaside town with a castle, 13th-century walls and a harbour where boats depart to Caldey Island, is only five minutesā€™ drive away too. Dog-friendly? Indeed. Barbecues welcome? That too.Handy facilities? Of course. Thereā€™s a fridge and freezer in case you want to store fresh eats from the farm shop five minutesā€™ walk away. Other on-site facilities are handy and include ladies and gentsā€™ toilets, handwashing basins, unisex showers, shaver points, washing-up facilities, an ironing board and hot and cold water. For an additional cost, thereā€™s also a washing machine, dryer and payphone available. For the kids, meanwhile, there's a sand play area where they can dig, explore and make friends. The site only accepts families and couples, which keeps things nice and peaceful. Dogs are welcome too as long as they're kept on leadsā€¦ It's a cracking location for walks for canines (or humans), with the countryside and coast so easily accessible.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: We stayed in our small campervan on a non electric pitch, it was perfect distance to saundersfoot Beach with amazing views of the sea and sunsets. The campsite had plenty of space was so clean the toilets were spot less and the showers had lovely hot water. So amazing we didn't expect all this for such a cheap price. We had a BBQ every morning and there were bricks and stones so we didn't burn the grass. There is clearly so much care put into the campsite we'll definitely be coming again, after half a day here we extended our stay. We walked to tenby along the pavement and only took an hour then was able to walk via the coastal path back to Saundersfoot which was stunning and then went swimming then fish and chips and went to a sea front pub garden.

Disliked: Nothing to say everything was perfect.

Liked: Hi booked this as recommended but would never stay here again !!! From the minute we arrived we were treated very rudely by the campsite owner , just because a family memeber broke down and we had to He brought by AA to the pitch and then AA to pic them Back up Sunday , which is not our family fault there car carrying the caravan broke down , from then on in the gentleman running the park was watching us all time like proper stalking when we werenā€™t even doing any thing disrespectful or wrong , it made girls feel uncomfortable as he stood by his car parked by showers and watched as they came in and out of the showers and all our tents said it felt like weird behaviour, and then had attitude with my dad being cocky to him as if my dad didnā€™t know how to Recycle, and then on top of that after playing with kids on field til 10pm as it was still light and there are other people who didnā€™t have groups still out talking and enjoying them selfs the owner comes over and says no noise after 10 , which again seemed strange as 1 it wasnt dark , 2, no one complained and 3 itā€™s normally 11pm at campsite ur asked to quite down but what made him approach at 10pm intresting again when 2 memeber went to toilet about 9.40 they saw him tip towing over his car watching us , just very strange behaviour , I then approached him and asked have we dome something to upset u as u keep looking over being rude when we ask U questions and ur constant watching us made us feel uncomfortable and he said no I donā€™t Have an issue but this family pitch we donā€™t normally have groups , so I replied itā€™s not a group it is fmaily booking my friend has kids we were playing football with them the only time the adults had a little drink Was about 9pm til 10pm then u came over again being funny but yet u never went over to people next door to Us that were being bit loud to that had no kids so Found it very hypercritical , He even had a go at one of the kids when they asked him simple question about weā€™res the recycling bin , he wasnā€™t kid friendly either

Disliked: He clearly had it in for us the minute my sister law had to bring her caravan and car that broke down On the Campsite with AA van and I donā€™t know why he have issue with that as it didnā€™t damage his grass and we were respectful and it wasn't my sister in law fault the car broke down , so it was lose her money from camping or pay still to Be brought to site , Bottom line is we were all polite to Owner and respectful and played with kids and was trying to make The kids holiday and weekend But the owner wasnā€™t havenā€™t any of that and his behaviour of watching all 3 pitches when we werenā€™t doing any thing wrong all thru out stay was very strange and weird and with him also being rude on top I know my friend who had kids will be reporting the owner because she felt intimated that the owner was always watching the three tents and also Her daughter and herself come in and out of shower , Bottom line is he was rude , and was borderline stalking all of us and our pitches for no reason even when we were all polite to him he clearly had problem for no reason and him watching us all time and When we went to Shower was very uncomfortable , and for that I know my friend who had her kids with her will be reporting him and not staying again even the other tent over from us had nothing to do with us said it was strange the way he was acting and standing by his car all time and watching people go in and out of shower and they didn't even have kids , So if your thinking of booking here I suggest u look else where especially if you have a family as he watches adults and kids like hawk and then demand ur all in bed by ten and then watches ur family go in and out of toilets showers itā€™s so intimidating and worrying and for a person thatā€™s camped 4 or 5 times a year in Tenby Iā€™ve never experienced anything quite like this stay avoid at all cost

Powered gravel caravan site

Liked: What a gem of a campsite! Itā€™s idyllic ā€¦.so beautiful and well looked after. We loved the setting, lovely trees and well tended lawns. Super clean toilets and showers and washing up area. Quiet too with very little traffic on the minor road that brings you onto it. The owners are so friendly and have thought of everything to make campersā€™ lives easier . Thereā€™s a large fridge and a large freezer where you can keep stuff . Also a washing machine and drier , both coin operated but very reasonably priced. Weā€™ve done a lot of camping both with a tent and now with our caravan and find it hard to think of a better place than this! Very tempted to bring one of the grandchildren next time ā€¦

Disliked: Nothing

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Excellent site, very close to Saundersfoot and Tenby. Convenient links to all suitable beaches. Quiet site with unlimited sized pitches. Great host, very welcoming and little fuss throughout stay. On site fridge and freezer was useful. Toilet and shower facilities very clean and convenient.

Disliked: Misses a childrenā€™s play area/climbing frame and changing facilities when youā€™ve showered.

From the manager: Thank you for this good review and for your stay at CC. We will work on the childrenā€™s play surface and instal our new park between the 10th of June and the 18th of July 2024 - We will only open for the Long Course weekend on the 21st of June. Then we will re-open for the summer holidays on the 21st of July all through to the end of September. We will have changing facilities when we will up-date the toilet block in a few years time. Our aim for 2024 was to create a contained dog walking area near the campsite and to instal a safe play area for children. Hopefully see you all again one day at CC! Rhian & Phil

Liked: The site was very well kept and the pitch size was great. Facilities here are fantastic. On our first night we used the washing machine and tumble dryer. If you plan on doing any laundry youā€™ll need to take lots of 20p coins for the dryer and the washing machine is only Ā£2!! The toilets and showers were immaculate! The owner was around a lot and helped with any problems we had. Perfect location, we had a fantastic stay. Will definitely be returning.

From the manager: Thank you for your stay at CC and for your positive review. We clean the toilet block & showers everyday anytime between 11.30 and 1.30. Cleanliness is important to us. Powered grass caravan site

Liked: Plenty of safe space in front of van for kids to play and mix with others. Toilet/shower block well cleaned. No shop, no temptations for kids. Easy access from main road.

Disliked: If you are a light sleeper then road noise could be an issue. Ask for a hard standing at the far end of the site if you want it a bit quieter.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Easily accessible site, just off main road, but far enough away as to not hear any passing traffic. Small campsite with good atmosphere, dog friendly and even has a separate field for the dogs to have a good run around off lead. Nicely maintained toilets and showers and a washing up area with good hot water, not Luke warm like some. There was also a small building with a payphone, communal fridge and freezer and a power bank rental unit too. I believe there were also wooden benches dotted around that could be taken over to your pitch to use during your stay.

From the manager: Thank you for your great review and your stay at CC. We are delighted you liked the dog area as we have worked on it this year. Thank you for listing all our facilities too. So pleased you enjoyed! Rhian & Phil

Local attractions

Pembrokeshire has got a few tricks up its sleeves for those who want a thrill (or two, or three). Oakwood Theme Park (15 minutesā€™ drive) has rollercoasters and water rides, including loop-the-loops or family-friendly coasters. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (10 minutes) is its softer alternative, with over 750 animals and vintage fairground rides. Paintball, golf, archery, fishingā€¦ get your dose at Heatherton World of Activities (five minutes). If youā€™re still craving animals, however, Manor Wildlife Park (five minutes) has a walking safari where guests can have a go at feeding the wallabies. You bet that Pembrokeshire also has some gorgeous coastal path sections, with excellently clear waters and geological formations. The Green Bridge, Elugug Stacks and The Cauldron are all half an hourā€™s drive away, as is Saint Govanā€™s Chapel by the sea and the sandy Broad Haven South beach (half an hour), backed by a lily pond.
